Holy smokes Osky, those are some nice fish! I'm gonna guess 16 pounds on the northern and 26 on the lake trout.
Zim The pike was 46 inches plus... Somewhere north of 24 lbs. The Lake trout was 40 inches. I don't carry a scale but they had one that went to 38 lbs and the trout buried it. That young lady is 6 feet tall if that gives it a bit more perspective. Oskt Well that does put it into perspective, most women folks fall a little short of 6 feet. Zim

Zim It does. However I only carry a tape the scale was theirs. From experience the weights are close but not verified. I have very large hands and the trout was so broad I could not begin to get a hand over the back of it. Speaking of that... One of the clients had taken off with my big trout net in their boat as it was close to sundown. Her getting that trout up was the first 20 minutes or so, getting my hands in it and hefting it over the side was a long crazy process as well. I'm getting old. I'm heading back up in a couple days to practice my fish handling. Osky

Here they taste like fish lard, fatty. If you doctor them up to the hilt they are not to bad, other then that, they are all grease/fat. Anyway the ones here are like that. If smoked they seem to dry out and are very good.
Give me a fish, I will eat for a day. Teach me to fish, I will eat for a lifetime

LOL Osky, I have had a few days here and there of leaving the net back in camp myself. One day up on Lac Seul Patrice and I ran about 10 miles from camp and realized we did not have our net. No big deal til Patrice hooked on to a 20 pound wide body northern while jigging for walleyes on 6lb. test line. Finally got the fish tired out and I was able to slip my hand under the gill plate and lift it into the boat. A quick picture and back into the water it went.
Zim Thanks guys, Wheelers, 330... glad you enjoy. Zim that’s awesome. I never used to carry a net for walleye or big pike/Muskie, as the fish don’t bother me but where the hook is at when grabbing the shaking head is no fun anymore. I’m carrying a big net now but I always have for big trout fishing as they are extremely slippery. I was foolish to be without one. I should have wised up that evening we only had an hour or so that night and we hit 2 heavy ones we lost before boating this one. Gotta swap out the treble hooks for j hooks on the lures to get good results when light trolling or jigging. Osky

Osky Ya never, and I mean never want to handle a big northern or musky that is frisky and has a 3 gang treble hook in it. I have cut the hooks and released many times. When things go wrong they tend to be spectacular. Zim

Don't need a net, just shoot em in the head in the water like those guys on crocodile hunter.

That float looks pretty sharp as well. I know one Canadian lake with crystal clear water and the big muskies that transition to living suspended over the deep water get those incredible bright colors as well. Super fun to catch them living out there under the massive Cisco schools. Osky
