Footholds can’t be larger than 7” outside jaw spread on land. Larger can be set in water.
Body grips with 8” or greater inside spread must be set in water

Cannot set foothold traps with a jaw spread in excess of 6 ˝” above the waterline.
Jaw spread is measured as the widest distance from this inside of both jaws on a line drawn perpendicular through the jaw pivot points when the trap is in the set position.
Cannot set foothold traps in areas above the waterline without them having offset, laminated, or padded jaws, with the exception being that coil-spring traps with a jaw spread of 4 inches or less and long-spring traps with a jaw spread of 4 ˝ inches or less do not need to be padded, laminated or have offset jaws

Not sure we have any for foothold traps. Bodygrips 10 inch or over on public land must be partially submerged.

Not sure we have any for foothold traps. Bodygrips 10 inch or over on public land must be partially submerged. Like Castormound states there is no jawspread laws in Wyoming minus the 10X10 or larger body gripper needs to be in water of some sort. Trap restrictions take up a total of three lines in the rule book and most rules are for snares which there are very few.

What was that about go big or go home? Seems like a few states are “as big as you want em”.

Are bear traps legal those states with no restrictions? Bears are a factor in Alaska.

Maine has a 5 3/8 inch inside in the northern half of the state (lynx zone), and we lost the ability to use drags in these zones. All traps in the state must have 3 swivels - trap, mid chain and stake. Lower half of the state does not have jaw spread restrictions.

None for footholds in Nebraska. On land controlled by game and parks, no body grippers larger than 5x5 on ground level, anything between 5x5 and 8x8 must be underwater or at least 6 feet above ground, anything larger than 8x8 must be completely submerged.
