What's best in 12ga factory ammo for hogs? 30 yards or less mostly.

Limited to 2 3/4 or 3" ammo. Thinking on good 3" 000 buck,,,, ? slugs are always an option... of course it would be patterned.

I have killed a bunch with 2 3/4 inch 00 buck, I prefer the 12 pellet copper plated load, I have used Remington, Federal, and Winchester ammo and couldn't tell any difference in performance, never really felt the need for the extra recoil of the 3" and of course it slows up the follow up shot if multiple pigs are present as well., .The Winchester hull stands up better to rough handling of the shells and I have used it the most.

3" 0000 buck if targeting single animals. Highly recommend a Buck Kicker choke tube.

I still don't get why people even use buckshot anymore...for 30 yards, any slug will work.

We use a lot of buckshot doing hog eradication here. Under 45 or 50 yards it’s serious mojo!

Breneke classic magnum 2 3/4" slugs. I have used them on deer and they were used in Alaska for bear defense. I have no doubt they will work great on pigs.

you didn't specify smooth or rifled barrel but I will assume smooth.

I have not shot hogs with it but for smooth bore 12ga at 50 yards and under the Winchester super X 2 3/4 value pack of 15 slugs.

been using them on deer since 1994 shot a lot of deer with them and the only time I didn't have an exit wound was a head on shot in the front and found the slug in the pelvis the deer didn't go any where.

you need to try them in your gun as barrels are different but these have worked well in the most guns , I have 2 smooth bores that will keep 5 rounds on 6 inch plate at 100 yards and another is more like 5 rounds on a 6 inch plat at 75 yards

out of my brothers shotguns and my dads shotguns , friends shotguns I would say we have tried them in about a dozen maybe more shotguns all smooth bore and never did worse than 5 on a 6 inch plate at 75 yards

Number 3 buck is awful deadly out to 50 yards. Never shot hogs with it but anything I have shot with it died..................

This is pretty interesting. No need for the ought sizes if running game is involved.

Too much kick in a deer slug. For the number of times you need to shoot hog hunting ANY slug would leave a bruise that may kill you from the blood clot. You guys want to say "it works great on deer" Just google some of those hog hunts. They shoot 20 ,30 ,40 times in under an hour. That my friend would destroy your shoulder if you shot slugs....

Geez he is wanting something to shoot RUNNING HOGS not one single deer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing wrong with enduring the kick of a slug if you are deer hunting. It is the mutiple kicks from HOG HUNTING that add up.

Did you even read the title or the question he ask ???? A 308 IS NOT A 12 GAUGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
