I pulled two baited 330s and the sprung #14 and replaced them with the snare pole and a baited 750. I'll wait two or three days and see what developes. I think the beaver is messing with me. Freshly chewed sticks were waiting for me when I punched through the ice.

Lol....fastest I ever caught a beaver was a lone beaver I was setting up for.Just put the poles and conibear down into the water when the two poles started shaking hard in my hands.I had him in about a second flat.I figure to this day he was lonely and had came out to investigate the noise of me chopping thru the ice.

I've heard tell of stuff like that but have never experienced it. I'm not gonna lie to you, I did turn around a couple of times today hoping my poles might be rattling. Nuthin'! Spent too much time ice fishing.

My son and I call it bobber beaver....it happened first time to us when my son set his first 33o. We walked 20 ft and snap.the H sticks were shaking. He set it with me again....I said just stay here Ill go up stream and set two bank holes. It went off for beaver 2 within 10 min. He set it again and by dusk he had his 3rd

We called that watching the beaver bobber.

Fun times

I'm wondering if I'm trying to trap a bachelor beaver who is spooked by the chainsaw. Whatever it is residing down there, it's had good luck whittling around my sets.

A spud? Trying to kill me? I'll wait three days, maybe four if I can stand it.
