One of the by-products of the beaver line are the carcasses. I take mine out to the woods and set them out without any traps and then go back to look at them after 4-5 days and just set up the ones that get bobcat visitors. Some get attacked by ravens and hawks (even though I try to hide them), a few by coyotes, and then some disappear taken by the long-tails. But out of 18 carcasses I got 4 cats including these three yesterday: Coast range Oregon cats.

Dandy looking cats,BP. Ravens actually have a great sense of smell.I saw one yesterday digging down in the deep snow for a morsel. It is near impossible to hide bait from them, but a couple heavy logs over the bait slows them down quite a bit, they work it from the sides and between the logs and create more of a fuss, calling in other critters. Wolves just scatter the logs.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

You would think the ravens would be a calling card for predators making them a plus. The one thing I found about cubbies they keep the raptors and yotes off of your bait pile but the cats will work them.

Looking good. What kind of sets are you using? When I find the carcass covered up I remove it completely, find some backing and dig out a dirt hole big enough to put a beaver shoulder in and then set a MB550 8-9" in front of that. As far as to which will bring the best offer it would likely be this one:

Speaking of ravens, I had a couple of beaver carcasses that I was trying to keep the ravens from getting at. I had them covered with a big pallet, and pallets placed upright around the pallet that was on top. I came back in a couple of hour and there were about 20 raves gathered around looking a little guilty. Somehow they had gotten the pallets down and got to the beaver. Put the pallets around again with more boards leaning against them. The ravens still tore into the pile. Smart birds, I never did see how they were doing it. It had to be a team effort.
