I have to be honest, I don't know what the heck to think of this, it's weird to say the least. Now the Restaurants and Bars have been ordered closed here, accept for carryout and delivery. Shelves are bare at the supermarkets, layoffs are starting. I can count on one hand how many cars I heard today. Is this genuinely needed precautions, the numbers don't seem so yet, or is there really something behind this? And no, I haven't dusted off my tin foil hat and put it on yet lol. Sure seems bizarre to me, but one thing I know is: Some type of a severe attack/attacks in a week or so domestically would really cause the poo to hit the fan. You know what Marty, your right and this is educational to how unprepared most are. I include myself.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

I'm getting tired of this media fueled hysteria. According to the CDC, influenza A kills 56,000 a year and pneumonia kills around 50,000 a year. That is an average of 290 a DAY. This virus has killed what, 50 in the last 2 weeks. My sentiments exactly. Based on the published numbers I've seen, the mortality rate has been hovering around 3.7% worldwide which is less than the annual strain of influenza. I can't make sense of the level of panic for this virus. Now you mention something like ebola and you'll have my full attention. The best thing I'm hoping for is this panic to drive home the importance of controlling our borders and properly vetting those we allow entry (for both security and health reasons). On a side note I just read in the April issue of FF&G that there's an outbreak of canine distemper in California. I hope everyone out there has had their shots.
