I’m pretty hot too flint, but not as bad as mom is. One of my seniors is a honor student and valedictorian. He has a large chunk of his freshman year in college under his belt. He’s in a fast track program for his law degree. School means the world to him, and he’s put his heart into it the last 13 years. I’ll sure hope they have a graduation for them at some point.

That’s one thing I’ve learned the last week. I’ve always thought it would be bad. Now I know we are up the creek for sure!

Pawnee, I feel bad for you and worse for your kids. I have two kids, freshman and a junior. Both in track. To say that they have fallen into a state of depression is not a stretch. I'm not going to be surprised when it will be announced in MN that school will be done for the year, my hope is that the decision is not made prematurely. As adults I think most of us see "the big picture". But young adults still have a lot of growth to take place..... missing out on school, social interaction, sports, prom, etc. is a big deal.

It's getting bad here.

The Bank is letting people inside the Bank by appointment only . If you don't have an appointment , or you arrive early, you don't get inside the Bank. Arguments in the Fire Department about not having enough protective gear, and that they should have placed their order for additional gear in MONTHS ago, before this all happened. We got one case in Town . That required a Mutual Aid call , because this Corona Virus has the Fire Department and Ambulance crews all rattled . The stuff really hit the fan in Town.

I walked in the house from doing chores and thought my wife got a phone call that great grandma passed. The kids were just sitting on the couch with a dumb founded look on their face and the wife was about to have an anxiety attack. I made a comment about grandma and the wife said they cancelled school for the year. What a crock of crap, I can see shutting them down for the time they did, but to wait and make the decision about more time after another week. IMO, this virus is not going to account for as many deaths as suicide is going to account for over this ordeal. As a family we have some major hurdles to cross here in the next few days about our new lifestyle that we are being pushed into. We will make it thru to the other side, but the learning curve is going to be hard and sharp.

My business partner is on the school board. He said they are having buses deliver food to the kids who need it in our district.

Not sure where it's all headed at the moment; the spillover from schools' closing is yet to be fully realized. Day care is one issue, getting everyone online learning setup is another. Throw in the Headstart and special ed programs and it gets more convoluted. I think closing down for the rest of the school year is very premature. Hopefully it will pass quickly and the order will be lifted.

Churches going to online services with no Sunday school, youth groups, kids club, or Bible studies, or in some cases no services at all.

County commissioners in a neighboring county have made a decision that any gathering of more than 15 people the participants may be ticketed and fined.

K-State Extension has called off all their programs, 4H events and meetings until further notice.

Local banks are limiting personal interaction, but so far most other business are still open.

Got a notice from one nearby sale barn that they are canceling this weeks cattle sale, and I'm sure that they aren't the only one.

I am sure there are several other things I don't know about that have been canceled, too. My kids are going to remember this deal for the rest of their lives.

I am glad I know who is control of all this, cause I am pretty sure the people who think they are in control don't really have any experience at it.

The local school here has canceled class until April 14th. The school busses are going to be delivering breakfast and lunch to all kids that want it or qualify for it I’m not sure which. Sent kids home with work packets and some with tablets to do online classes. All of this seems like overkill to me but i don’t know seems like taking it one week at a time would make more sense to me.

Same here jarrett. I gave the boys $40 and they drove 30 miles to a Sonic. I figured they needed a bit by themselves. Told them they had no idea last Friday was the last day. We never know the last day. It could be school, their grandparents, or themselves; cherish every second. It’s not the end of the world, but to a senior in high school it probably seems like it. It’s a thing called life. Sometimes you don’t see it coming!

I kinda know where you're at Pawnee. I got Jr. and Frosh daughters that are bummed about school activities as well. Jr blew her knee first quarter of first basketball game so she has already known no track this year, she made the state meet in 2 events last year, but she saved up for her prom dress and is bummed about that situation. The freshman daughter has a legit shot at going to state in a couple events this year, too, and it is really eating at her. I can only imagine having a senior in that situation. Just kinda hammers home the idea of doing your best every time out cause you don't know if its your last time.

Thanks obaro. Sorry for your girls. The younger two think it’s great, but that will change with a few weeks of farm work when their not used to it! Hard labor is only supposed to happen in the summer

I've already told my boy the school year is over. I just can't see them starting back up. I don't agree with it. We are going to find ways to help him keep learning. I think it's only a matter of time before they make that announcement here.

My understanding is that the schooling here is supposed to take place online. That could be a challenge in itself. My younger 2 kids, 6th and 4th grade are just realizing that they aren't going to get to see near as much of their friends as they think they ought to. We are 18 miles from town, so the whole 'social distancing' thing is not much of a problem for us, but it can kinda drive young socialites a little bit batty. Still a month away from calving so the to do list on the place won't include a lot of the fun stuff they are looking forward to, mostly be cleaning out a shed or two and getting around some fence.
