1) If you have an attached garage and an automatic garage door opener, then you need to manually lock the walk thru door to the house. Thieves have replicates to open your overhead door.
2) Don't just have guns, stage them and train family members how to use them.
3) If you are rural and have a long driveway, then consider putting in a welcome sign. Mine says "You are within range at this point"
you can pull the rope on the garage door opener with many and it disconnects the drive form the door
as some one else pointed out a clamp or a spring clip on the track if you don't have a lock
definitely agree with 2
3 I would keep signage to no trespassing , keep out and a chain or gate across the drive with a no trespassing sign.
thieves are typically lazy if you make them walk a long way to get the loot they find easier loot.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

We haven't done anything new. Basic guns in strategic locations and on our person. Maybe lock the doors at night if we remember. Sometimes we may take the keys out of the vehicles but then we have to go find them.. lol.
We are more concerned with coons, foxes, coyotes, and opossum getting our stock than 2 leg varmint. When I get concerned about 2 leg varmint we will head to our cabin on the farm since it's much further from the road and I will have a 300 yard field of fire and if they cross the fence well there had better be a bunch of them.

The disconnect rope, for the overhead doors in the garage, handle should be bundled up and bound to the attachment point on the trolley. Bad guys can easily fish under the garage door seal to disconnect the trolly from the track allowing the door to be lifted. Lock your doors all the time every time same for windows when you aren’t home. I keep my pistols loaded. Kiddos know where they are, what they are, and what they are for. Carbine has a quick access locking wall mount. It’s not theft proof but we can still get the tool out to work with pretty quickly. Have to weigh security, safety, and accessibility for yourself.
To be honest, I just have the guns around the place and close by to help protect the neighbors chickens from the song dogs and such. We are so far of the beaten track where we are. I doubt that I will ever see a storage soul here.
Let's go Brandon
"Shall not comply" with morons who don't understand "shall not infringe."

We bought a driveway alarm. We got the version with two solar powered wireless sensors. One is mounted on the post under our mailbox and gives a single chime when someone enters the driveway - good for UPS and FedEX. The second sensor is mounted on the house at the top of the driveway and lets us know someone has actually come up to the house. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VLXGWVX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I also have a compact handgun accessible in a few locations including one out in the shop. They're not where anyone would find them, the magazines are loaded but not inserted and they're all in pocket holsters. In a second or two my wife or I can have one in our front pocket to meet anyone at the door or in the driveway. If someone made it into the house first (I'm really not expecting this), we have options throughout the house.
I'm not a worrier but we've already started to hear about a couple of break-ins in our rural area. As people get more desperate we'll see more.

Anyone have any guns mounted in strategic locations, monitored by camera that can be fired remotely from smart phone? Asking for a friend..LOL! I have some mines I built years ago, but their old school manual and fire by trip wire or pressure plate. I should up date them with electronic because they can be a bit to indiscriminate for current situation. I thought about using old cell phones to dial them up like the rag heads did in Iraq. Just afraid I'd would get wasted by someone wanting to up date my cars extended warranty..
