I change the oil, spark plugs, and air filter (if it has one), put new paddles on it if it needs it, whatever it takes to make it ready. That way I can forget about it next until next season, and when I need it it's ready to go without having to do anything. As far as gas, I fill it completely full with non ethanol gas and stabil, run it for 5 minutes or so, and then shut it off and re fill it. If you keep the fuel tank completely full, you won't have to worry about condensation on the tank.

I do pretty much the same as everybody has mentioned. I add Sta-Bil, let it run for about 5 minutes, then shut off the fuel line letting the engine run until it quits. I change the oil and only use non-ethanol fuel.
I use Sta-Bil on all my chain saws, ATV, snowmobile, lawn mower, etc if they're not going to be used for a while. I've never had a problem with starting when I need them by doing this.

EF the stabilizer.......run it dry...then buy a quart of the “Good Stuff” gas, sold in Walmart or Hardware stores.....put that in ,and run it a bit.

My question Is this Is It better to leave gas In the carb or run It dry and let It sit for 9 months. I was told by one dealer to run the snow blower for a minute or 2 each month. And of coarse use premium gas. I haven't put mine to bed yet.

I had one dealer tell me you don't need fuel stabilizer if you run the carb dry. I think you still need stabilizer for the gas that's left in the tank or the carb.

I had one dealer tell me you don't need fuel stabilizer if you run the carb dry. I think you still need stabilizer for the gas that's left in the tank or the carb. Run it till it out of gas until it conks out. Choke it and pull the cord a few times and all gas will be gone. The little bit that may be left with evaporate.

you winterize it and you'll make it snow.and enough to need it. I learned that lesson years ago. I won't put it away until May.

I just park it. I start it and let it run a minute or two, once a month in the off season, like I do with all my motorized machinery.

I just park it. I start it and let it run a minute or two, once a month in the off season, like I do with all my motorized machinery. That is actually the best answer. Leaving a small engine dry of fuel is bad for the gaskets. Leaving it full of fuel ( no ethanol and sta-bil added ) is good but you can still have issues with it gumming up or varnish deposits. Starting it up on a regular basis in the off season is the best you can do for it. My FD has 2 Yamaha generators that are over 20 years old. We don't use them very much , maybe 2-3 times a year. However as part of our weekly work night checking out our equipment they get started and run for 2-5 minutes every week. They work perfect , start up on the first try everytime. Not bad for 20 year old equipment. Ever notice a dedicated permanent generator for a house/business use has a timed self start every week or month or so ? Even the LPG/NG ones do this. Use it or lose it.

In the past, I used to do nothing. I left the fuel in it with no stabilizer of any kind. Sometimes they would start sometimes not. Since I started using fuel stabilizer, I've never had a problem with starting. I'm thinking running the carb dry might not be such a good or necessary practice, especially if you're using fuel stabilizer. Never thought about not leaving fuel in carb drying out the gaskets, makes sense.

Full of gas a stabil or run it now and then. If not gaskets will shrink and crack most likely.

Other than turning hay to dry it, I don't see much use for a snow blower in the summer .
