They won't close stores if producers keep producing. If they do, Katie barr the door lol.

The problem will likely be getting goods TO the stores.. Wholesalers are now telling store owners what they will get, not asking them what they want. The food comes to this town from 182 miles away. The truck likely wouldn't get here if there were mobs of hungry folks between here and there.

There was an arsehole in Mankato, Kansas that did the same thing. Tested positive and he and family were out running around town. Cops had to escort them out of the Dollar store.

I think what you will see long before that happens is all order first and pickup they will have online ordering and for those who can't online make up sheets of products they will have available for sale that day you will check off what you want they will pack the order and you pick it up the next day or later that day.

Well, that sucks the big one. I live 5 minutes from kettle moraine and enjoy heading over there every afternoon for a little walk.

Sad but true. A lot of folks live in “rural “ areas, they have their truck patch, and chickens and livestock, maybe even a well with a solar power grid to keep it all humming along and of course their own little armory to protect it all. But they live within 3 days walking distance from Millions and Millions of people. If societal breakdown occurs, they will be nothing more than a resupply stop for the roving hoards of starving people guided by freshly crowned War Lords. If people are willing to eat other people, and this has already been proven to be the case, then the little homestead kingdoms will be nothing more than a speed bump to the intelligent ruthless animals that a population of starving people will become. Gathering together with their neighbors and making a plan before the EVENT will help, but is in no way a guarantee of success. I live within four days walk of a million five and that is to close in my opinion. But we have to balance work with remote.

A book I read, that deals with this theme, although obviously fictional, was in my opinion well thought out and covered way more possibilities than immediately come to mind. “Lucifer’s Hammer” is a heavy read but it covers the bases.

You live in NE. IA and NE along with the Dakotas are about the only states that are not locked down. I seen where 80% of IA jobs are deemed essential. Grocers are not going to shut down nothing. If they did it will be anarchy. I am ready for either situation though. LLL

Back in the late 70's I was having a discussion with a guy who was kind of hippie, tree-hugging vegetarian. He was questioning my hunting and eating the game I took as being somehow inhumane. He told me that when the Great Famine comes, only people who lived by a certain book were going to survive. I looked him in the eye and said "Dick, when the Great Famine comes I'm going to shoot you and eat you." He got a weird look on his face, kind of sort-circuited, and walked away.

Great Book and spot on as far as what would happen when SHTF.

Recomended reading for all you "Survivalists" with an AR and cache of 30 round magazines. LOL

Me, like in the book , I'll be hanging out at the local Nuclear Power Complex

where they'll be keeping the lights on. laugh
