Just read that the MI DNR is implementing boating restrictions( not sure of the effective date). No boats with motors, jet skis, or power boats. Sailing, canoeing, and kayaking are still OK. Does anyone know if this is true? Does Covid discriminate against people who use motors?

This is just an excuse to punish Conservative Republicans who Trap, hunt, and fish.

Canoeist, Kayakers, and Blow-boaters can't or don't spread Covid-19 ?

Give me a break.

Same crap is going on in NYS as of today.

Seen photos from downstate of 1/4 mile long lines at boat ramps this month. Outside of canoe liveries, you don't see that kind of congregation of canoes, kayaks, etc.

Might be time for some civil disobedience. Rules like this have absolutely nothing to do with the spread of a virus. It's all about control now and seeing how far they can go.

Dig deep, and you might find you have the strength to hang on without being able to go motorboating for a few weeks. Pick your battles.

But explain how not motorboating is going to stop the spread. Just insane.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Spring trolling on the big lakes here draws hundreds of people from around the state and out of state, locations like the Saginaw river can be a zoo when Walleye season opens. People driving from far away, congregating at boat ramps, shopping for lures, bait, gas, beer increases. Potential for accidents, etc. There have been crushes of people launching boats at some sites already. We've already had issues at fishing sites around the state where people were not following social distancing guidelines, some popular steelhead spots have been closed to public access.

When people don't use common sense they need to get told what to do.

Yes, if these new guidelines save but one person, it will be worth it! crazy

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Yep I was already to shove off on my birthday this morning to chase walleye and pike in lake huron with my wife and the marina owner called me last night and informed me of no boats with motors could be on the water in the state of michigan. After thinking about it a bit better safe than sorry like catch 22 says above. Changing my plans and grinding beaver meat and castor today and spearing some suckers to smoke tonight.

You don't have loved ones with health complications or who work in health care do you? When that one person is your father, mother, son, daughter, grandparent, aunt, uncle, brother or sister you don't give a darn about your motorboating plans.

...when you won't be able to visit them in the hospital, there will be no burial service, and you won't be able to comfort your other loved ones in person, you won't give a hoot about motorboating, or much of anything else.

Lake Mead ramps, on the Nevada side, have been closed for almost a month. Lake Powell just locked it up this past Monday. Hikers, bicyclists, walkers, kayakers, and canoes all good to go.

My day job is classic boat restoration in a 4 man boat shop. We've been shut down since March 20 and may have a hard time recovering of the economy is in the pits.

My wife and I own and operate a wholesale nursery that sells to retail operations, agencies and non-profits. Spring is our busiest sales time and we're going to miss out thousands of dollars of income before this passes.

Then stay at home Coos! I was all for stopping the big gatherings, MLB games, big Church gatherings etc. Now, they are going to far, overreach is abound, especially in States with Dem Governors and Mayors. I have a full tank of gas in my truck, if I want to drive down to a lake and put out a small boat and fish, then come home, who are they to say I can't?

Used to be they quarantined the sick, the healthy went on exercising their rights. What they are doing isn't right.
