I like a trail mix style. Corn, dino bites (cheep bag frooty pebbles), and mini fruity marshmallows. Otherwise gummy life savers on the trigger work well too.

Dry Cat Food, Bacon Grease, Molasses, Vanilla, Mini Marsh-mellows, and Tuna (with the juice). This is what I think I used to catch my first 4 coons. And well... it worked! This is a pretty complex recipe though.
If you want something more simple try: Dry Cat Food, and Jello Mix. Then you can just get come fish oil and squirt it around the trap (as an attractant/lure). And to keep the rain out of your trap just take a white styrofoam cup or a red solo cup and put it over your DP.

Every summer I go to dollar general buy a cheap bag of fish flavored dry cat food. Buy a bottle of molasses, a bod of strawberry or cherry jello, and one can of sardines in oil. Should have more than $5 or $6 total at dollar general. Then I dump the cat food, half the bottle of molasses, whole box of jello, and mash up the contents of tin of sardines and dump that in too. I use a two gallon plastic jug with a lid but any large container with a lid will do. A five gallon bucket with lid works too. Shake and stir it all up the put the lid on and put it on the shelf. Every couple days or so give it a thorough shake and stir again. Keep doing that until the dry cat food has soaked everything up and after a month or so it will look dry again but has a great coon bait type odor...fishy, with molasses and a little fruit from the jello. This has worked really well for me in DPs for a few years now and makes about two gallons of bait. You can fill old empty clean one or two liter pop bottles with the bait to carry with you when setting or remakes. It pours very well from liter plastic pop bottles right into opening of the DP. You can run a little good coon lure on lip of trap or on twig poked in ground right next to the trap if you want. It's the easiest dry bait I've ever used and works well. As options instead of cherry or strawberry jello add 1/2 bottle of anise flavoring from grocery section, caramel and mint also work well, so does root beer flavoring for some reason. Have fun and dont think about it too much. I know several trappers that just use plain dry cat or dog food and also do well. Put the DP right under their noses i.e. right in middle of trail or other good location. Set the trap on good location I think is more important than whatever magical stuff you put in it. I use yellow and orange old golf balls for caps to keep mice out, or no cap. The colored balls I dont think matter except they are easier for me to find after a catch than white ones are especially if we have snow. Jim

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Gosh I dont know..its about "yea" big. One bag fits nicely with a little room to spare in the 2 gallon jug I make it in, so how ever that big. Finished product looks like this.

I think one of the B’s mentioned it in another post and it works for me. Sheep’s wool under the trigger and a small spoon scoop of your regular predator bait of choice on top. They seem to clog up every coyote set with this bait, might as well use it in a DP. Sheep's wool works great!

Don’t forget to tune the dog and notch as well as a three-quarter inch length of 1/4 inch or 3/16 inch Surgical hose on the trigger. I use The Boy's old nerf darts on the trigger. We have a ton of them since the wife buys 100 at a time online and the cats chew them up so they dont shoot too well then. 1/2 a dart on each trigger basically free if you have them laying around.
