Charlie performed a few times in our small county of 30k people. Was at our fair five years ago and and performed at our local drive in 13 years ago with Marshall Tucker band. One of the few concerts I've ever gone to.
Sad day - he was a lifetime NRA member and wasn't shy about supporting 2A at his events or on social media. Played that fiddle like he was born with it.
He lived about 5 miles down the road from us and did a lot for the community. He donated a lot to build a very nice park in town that we take my daughter to. The local police department is escorting him to the funeral home in about an hour. A really great all around guy.
I met him and his lovely bride in 88 at Grafenwohr, FRG. He was doing a USO tour. He did alot for our troops. It was one of the great honors of my life. He was a genuinely good man and we desperately need more like him.
