Speaking of WileyE, do y'all recall when he was debating with the anti-trapper, Abbey, on here? I agreed to let her on for a civil debate on trapping. Do y'all recall how that turned out? Is that thread still around? I would love to read that one. No, it was pre crash of 2006. We lost everything in that crash.

[ I've run into anti's. One crazy lady a few years ago, screaming about a grinner. You, being a Canuck, I guess the 2 other people in your town all accept it? When beavers affect their pocketbooks, its strange how peoples ideas change. We have thousands of big city folk cottaging here. No one gives a crap about an animals welfare anymore when it is costing them money. I was keeping an eye on a pretty aggressive bear at an island tennis club. there was one woman who lived on the same island who was leading the charge against having it put down. Its a cute bear! You cant kill it! Kids camps on the island, bear repeatedly being pepper sprayed and was going through cottage walls to get in... One day her kids were playing in front of the cottage and the bear got between her and the kids and wouldn't leave. I got a frantic phone call from her with her screaming: KILL IT! KILL IT! PLEASE KILL IT NOW!!!! She became one of my best customers for beaver removal from her boathouse after that lol. And the bear was about 300 lbs.

Good anecdote illustrating why rural people are more firearm friendly. Good thing she had someone to call

Good anecdote illustrating why rural people are more firearm friendly. Good thing she had someone to call That was four years ago. Had three bears not behaving well out there over the years. I hit that one a couple times with a rubber bullet as I had to follow protocol for trying to make the bear fear people again. Didn't work for this fella at all. Too educated and habituated by dumb people. One building was a movie hut for the kids camp kids to watch movies in. Popcorn butter on the floor, and the bear would tear through a half open window on one side, and the kids would run out the other side. It kept happening, bear would break in, and they would have to hire someone to fix the damage. They asked my opinion and I said the bear had to go. They then asked if there was an option B and I told them the bear was going to get in one way or another, so they may as well save the money repairing the wall and windows and just put in a big ol doggy door... They didn't like option B
