I have the meat off a couple of beavs I caught this spring and their castors.

I had big plans of grinding up the meat for bait and doing something with the casters.....life has gotten in the way.

Iowa's convention is in a few weeks and I had planned to pick up Sodium Benz and Glycerine.

Would you:

1. Just grind it up and put SB and Glycerine in it.
2. Grind up, Taint, and then add SB/Glycerine
3. Add the castors to either??? yes/no??
4. Go with a bait solution instead of fresh or tainted

I'm just looking for something as a simple "low key" change up to the commerical baits I have purchased over the past few years.

Dobbins bait solution. All I use for my meat baits. Works great for me. Grind and leave at room temp for a few days, add solution, leave out 3 weeks, stir at least one time per day, add SB packet that comes with solution and you have bait. I add Castor to about half. Make up 2 containers.

Wish I had more time to trap....

add some rat glands, real sun rendered fish oil, a tiny bit of castor or sac oil (i prefer sac oil to castor for coyotes) and you have a good solid, simple bait to go with. I will add that I did some testing with deer meat and glycerin and the coyotes preferred the deer meat without glycerin consistently.

Grind or chunk and add 1/2 a ground/minced castor. Mix well. Stir daily.
Add more castor if u.cannot smell any.
Add SB after a few days.
It’d help to know how much meat you have by volume, like 1/2 gallon or what?

Probably 1, maybe 1.5, gal of meat is all. Just wanting to experiment.

Add fish oil and castor to ground up meat, split in half and taint one part and add SB to the other. Stir it frequently. Let the tainted sit for 4-5 days and add SB. Add glycerin to both to freeze proof.
