Lots of good information above.

I raise a small herd of Boer goats and use that same fence. The adults will stand on it and can cause it to sag. I haven't had any trouble with young kids getting out with that fence. Have seen some broken strands due to head-butting the fence. Fencing for Boer bucks can be another deal altogether.

Keep an eye on parasites but if you are just fattening kids then likely won't have a problem. Boer kids really grow on free access to feed (16% protein).

If start adding does then don't be afraid of adding Kikko, Spanish, or Savannah crosses to the herd. They seem to be better with parasites and likely mothers. My Nubian/Boer kids gain as fast as any others and one wether outgained all the kids this year. Shoot me a note if I can help.

4 inches by 4 inches

That will be alright for most adults . I hope the weanlings dont drive you nuts . Ive got two streatches of 6x6 left ive cut every other stay out of about 250 yards of one section and have not removed a goat from it sense

You do know how to check to see if a fence is goat proof don't you? -- Just take a bucket of water and throw it at the fence - if the water goes through then so can a goat.
