I’d also like to catch the rest of the fur I need for the bead spread I’m planning to make.

My goal is to take it easy and enjoy it. Seems like all my past seasons have been a rat race. Trying to make as much as I can. My goal every season is to break even. With current cat prices (the only thing with real value in my area), that’s going to be tough to do. So this year I just want to enjoy time with my kid. Plus with the low cat prices, competition will be way down.
If traps work like the Antis say......I would have no fingers.

the zero possums would be an awesome goal. I almost did it last year but on last day pulling sets i picked one up...first one id caught last year. All previous years i was getting 20 to 30, seriously. Maybe I finally got them beat back enough on some farms I'm on.
Hoping for a nice pile of coyotes, a cat or two, some fox and some mink. I know mink aren't worth much but fun to trap. Coon are just going to show up whether I try for them or not. I like catching a beaver or two also.
Oh and not have a single piece of equipment stolen, ran over, shot up, stomped into a mashed up mess of steel, no coyotes shot to (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) and lying there all worthless, no skinned coon carcasses left in a live trap for me to walk up on, either. Those would be nice goals to meet this season.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Last year being my first year, my goal was one coyote since that is what I was mainly after. I did very well as far as I am concerned and got 17 coyotes, 49 coon, 52 beaver, 20 rats, 1 badger.
My goal this year is 20 coyotes. I have gotten permission on some awesome ground and my MB550s are dyed, waxed and ready to snap! I have added to my MB550 collection and now have 7 dozen. The way work is going I don't think I will have enough time to set them all but I will try and get 4 dozen out for sure. Good Luck to you all!

Setting goals pretty high this year. Not gonna target coons ( 158 ) last year. Should leave me more time for coyotes, beaver, otter, rats, and cats. Want to try and double from what I did last year, but will depend on weather. 70 coyotes,16 cats,38 rats,92 beaver,22 otter. If I get close to them numbers I will be busy.

I haven't been able to trap like i used to in 7 years due to my career, i recently stepped away from that and became self employed.
My goal is to catch rats in numbers i did before having to hang it up for a bit
if i can put up 350 muskrats, i will be very pleased!

Fill my freezers with coyotes, take out the coon on farms that have crop damage. Think out of the box on sets and attractors and learn more about coyotes. Hoping for some snow , just not too much. Have a bit of fun with mink and beaver. Might even trap some muskrats, got my colony traps all tuned up.
Common sense catches alot of fur.. Pay homage to all you harvest..

My only goal is to not get bitten again this year. How about a story to go with the picture...and I want to hear a thousand words worth, lol. Coyotes have never bothered me. Cats have me being more cautious, they just look at you like they want to rip your throat out.

To catch a badger. I have never set for one but we are allowed 1 per season so figure why not. Will be trapping usual predator line also.
Wish I had more time to trap....

Last year was my first year trapping. I do it exclusively for wildlife management. I set goals as follows:
5 coyotes 30 coons/possums 1 beaver 1 bobcat
I caught: 6 coyotes 38 coons/possums 2 beavers 1 bobcat 2 otters 2 grey fox
This year I would love: 10 coyotes 60 coons/possums 5 beavers 2 bobcats
All animals caught were rewarding, but the coyotes really did it for me. I guess second place would be the beavers. Otters and cat were stumbled onto by mistake.
Some days I think I could trap anything anytime. Others I wonder if I’ll ever make another catch...

200 rats 30 coyotes. I have a market for my rats. I'm going to try and catch a few skunks and put them up. Never did that before. If I could still trap the ROW I'd have 50 skunks In a weeks time. LOL
I don't plan on targeting coon but will skin any ones I do catch.

I would like to set a couple new personal records without losing too much money.

Finish building my fur shed is my number 1 goal.
200 put up coon (damage control on feed lots and crops) 10 coyotes 5 red fox 1 grey fox (very few in my area) 2 cats 30 beaver 50 muskrats 5 otter 5 mink All the skunks I can catch Get my nephews out setting coni boxes and teaching them how to trap and put up fur.
Getting someone new into trapping should be a goal for each of us every year. My newbie this year will be one of my granddaughters.

My first goal is to survive Covid 19. I came down with it on Sept. 13th and it hasn't been much fun. I had a fever 24 hours a day for the first 13 days and finally went fever free yesterday for the first time. Lost 13 pounds and I wasn't big to start. LOL. My energy level is extremely low but that should start to improve.
I hadn't trapped coyote for many years but put out some sets last year and caught 6 in less than a week with less than 20 traps out. My goal this year is to catch 30 and reduce the population in my area if possible. I'm hoping to help out the deer and the red fox. I'll also trap a bunch of coon but don't have any specific goal since most didn't sell last year.
57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

After the year I had last year will be a hard task to follow. Goal this is year is 700 Nutria's and 10 Muskrat. Yes Yes Yes I know that is big numbers for people not aware of the situation down here. I'm a small time guy here working 14 days on and 14 days off all year and the weather is a killer. In a weeks time it will go from Fall, Winter, Summer, Winter in a 7 day period. But that being said my biggest goal to beat is 50 rats in a day. Last year I came close with 46 in a 24 hour set.
2019/2020 totals 634 nutria 9 coons 2 muskrat 1 bobcat 1 mink

Its all for the bounty program, I save some meat for the table, some parts for alligator bait and the rest is fertilizer..... No market for the pelts that are worth the trouble.

There are a lot of variables. You can reduce the population to a point. They are like wild hogs. You would have to kill such a high percentage to make any kind of difference. It is more about land protection than total eradication. The land loss is getting better every year but participation is a different story. There are very few true trappers that still run traps every day. Most people are just riding around shooting them. The land I trap is better suited for trapping and not just riding around. Days that I catch 20-30 a day I may only see 1 or 2 that I can actually shoot, but every section of land is different. The weather is the biggest factor. The perfect weather is 30-50 degrees with 1-5 MPH north wind. If it gets any colder or hotter the numbers drop off drastically or if the wind gets to 10-15 at night it will effect them.
2019/2020 totals 634 nutria 9 coons 2 muskrat 1 bobcat 1 mink

To simply trap, a little reminiscing and make a few new memories... After a little thought, I would like to catch a Grey Fox to have as a wall-hanger. I haven't caught one in 32 years since I have moved. It's the only animal I have caught that I don't have a momento for the den. That and catch a coyote in a Pipe Dream Set?
