This is how "Fall Drumming" was once explained to me: Adult males have the male hormone testosterone in their bodies year around but there is an increase in the Spring and that is what triggers drumming. The drumming that we hear in the fall is being done by "young of the year" males. As they start to mature, their testosterone level goes from zero to some and that triggers the drumming

GPS and drumming logs = saves the old timers from miles of walking

And if White cues in = best spots for marten trapping = cause they frequently visit.

I have watched both grouse and marten 'drumming' on those logs. It's close by the cabin and easy to get to in my wheelchair
