Liberia was probably the most racist country ever founded. The more white blood the mixed race Liberians appeared to have, the higher their social status. They treated the pure blooded Africans abominably. They considered them subhuman.

I heard a program on public radio, where they interviewed former Liberians, who fled to the US, after the retaliatory massacres started against the mixed race Liberians. The women would not go outside during the daylight, uncovered, because they did not want their skin to darken. Rich and influential Liberian families paid white men to sire children on the women in their families to make the children lighter complected and presumably more intelligent. Men and women both used products to lighten their skin and straighten their hair to appear more white.
