22 mag is one of the most versatile guns that I have. I shoot everything from Beaver to Wolves with it. Great predator calling gun. Little to no blood, quick kills, never any fur damage. If its within 150 yards, I'll put my mag against any of the "big" guns.

Honestly I think the 22 MAG is overkill or under kill EXCEPT for Beaver ! Martentrapper nailed it as single use gun . I love mine and will never be without one and I have not thumped a Beaver with it !

You can ride a fast horse slow but you can't ride a slow horse fast .

My beaver gun.Versatile bush gun, have taken black bear with it also and other larger game.
Its great for beaver though.Nice gun to carry, its about like a little bolt action 22 and the mini mauser action is smooth and solid. [Linked Image]

I prefer headshots with fmj for beaver-little damage to the pelt

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

There you go Boco. I could get a 7.62x36 upper for my AR and use that. I'll have to think on that one. Have some 223 light loads to try out at the range.

I have had great luck with my 17HMR. Not sure why it wasn't your cup of tea.

Best post I’ve read all day smile

The Ruger 22 mag American compact bolt action is a handy tool
