Most of my deer and bears are killed with this Hawken. Some deer I shoot with shotgun with buckshot.

white works well on dark targets and backgrounds anything bright that will not be the same color as your target

I don't like fiber optics they glow so much they seem huge and are hard for me to get a good sight picture they seem like a good idea in the store where anything you point at is close , then at the range it covers too much of the target for my liking

with maybe the exception being the inverted V shaped Ithica front sights

I also don't care much for round bead type I like a square post

my 30-30 has a peep rear and a hooded post front even if I can not see the post it is the center of the round front hood it is a Lyman globe front sight it takes inserts I like the narrow post for the 30-30 I have a silhouettes 22 I use the wide post on but there I am holding a half or hole post right or left for wind
with the 30-30 I am not shooting far enough to need to hold off for wind.
