Well, checked stands behind my son's place and all is good. Normally I would be staying up there for the weekend but he has Covid rolling through is place of employment so I had to make the decision to not stay up there, but will still be hunting behind his place. I will have a 25 mile drive in the morning but at least I will be able to enjoy my own toilet...with any luck. Normally tonight we'd be going to the landowner's cabin, sipping good whiskey, talking smart, and dancing around the fire pounding our spears on our shields. Not this year and their crew is in full agreement.
Tomorrow night we would normally be having their crew over at my son's place for venison stew, homemade hard rolls, and more good whiskey. Instead my good wife made up a big pot of stew, hard rolls, and apple pie that we will drop off over there after hunting. He called my son and said their cabin is literally infested with mice so I will also be bringing up some mouse traps and glue boards to help them out.
Right now the truck is loaded, sandwiches all made, and I am relaxing with the traditional couple fingers of Yukon Jack with just a couple ice cubes. Life, for this year, has changed but it is still awful dang good.
My best to all hunting in the morning!

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Good luck to all, be safe and shoot straight. This will be season No. 54 for me. On a side note, my wife Patrice got an 8 pointer tonight with her crossbow so we won't go hungry this winter.
Zim We've seen Patrice's cooking Zim. You folks will not be going hungry with or without a deer in the freezer. Good luck and to all. Post pics.

Had a very good opening morning with filling my buck tag at 7am and then two coon on a half dozen traps I have out. Dave
Forever in debt to my Father who introduced me to trapping. May I be half the man he was.
