I went grocery shopping today for the first time since 10/30/2020. Back then, the stores were mostly back to normal except for little bread, no 91% rubbing alcohol and no wide mouth jar lids. Most people had masks on with their noses sticking out. One guy had no mask at all.

Today Walmart was ravaged.
No toilet paper.
No paper towels.
No Napkins.
Huge holes on the shelves all over.
People crossing to the other side of the center displays to avoid each other.
People rushing about.
People getting out of other people's way rather than blocking aisles, like they usually do.
Everyone had masks on properly.

I did buy 12 packs of 12 wide mouth lids, 144 total. I should have bought more. When I got home and counted we have 182 jars in use right now and have probably emptied 30 some more.

I also stopped at Family Dollar in my small, nearby town. They still had lots of toilet paper and had boxes sitting on the floor, in front of the nearly full shelves. They were out of the bigger packs of Charmin I was after though.

Since the last shortage, my wife has been stocking up so we won't be caught in that situation again. We're good to go on essentials.

Why? Do people poop more during a lock-down? I don't get it.

People mostly eat more during a lock-down and when stressed, so overall people do poop more during a lock-down, plus many people are mostly only using their home bathrooms.

One of biden's probable appointees wants to shut the country down for 6 weeks, which makes people want to hoard even more in preparation.

Has anyone in Iowa tried selling corncobs on Etsy? Might be a good time to reintroduce the old-time organic B.W. material.
You'd probably have to include a warning against flushing though.

Yeah right, they are all working at home. They normally would have dropped the deuce at least once, probably more on the clock at work.

They want to keep their mind clear during the lockdowns which undoubtedly requires TP when you consider what they have for brains.

Guess I'll go ahead and trap some possum this winter after all.

I conserved a lot of our home tp supply during the first run by going for my morning drive around the time of my morning constitutional. I would drive to the local convenience store and get a paper and go in and read while doing my thing. Sometimes I got through most of what I wanted to read and just left it in there for the next person. I told my wife the other week I probably saved us about 4 rolls or more over that period.

Last week she was almost ready to leave for work and she said; " I gotta poop". See ya. Out the door she went. She told me she hit all the green lights so she went to work and "violated" the one there. I told her "You learn well the ways of the tp hoarder my young grasshopper".

I did that for years before I started working from home. Like clock work at 9 am I would hit the can. I did it more to give my plumbing a break rather than save TP.

What a weird phenomenon. I would think buying a couple small freezer and stalking up on food would be more important than TP.
Well, guess I'll go check the closet and do a little inventory, ha ha.

Oldy but a goody ,Bear and bunny go to the woods to poop when they finish the bear says to the bunny ,Hey bunny do you have a problem with poop sticking to your fur and the bunny replies "Nope" and the bear picks him up and wipes his butt with him .

Just stay away from the Thai food and dark beer and you should be good.

They actually did a study on the phenomenon. It is older folks who are afraid of getting locked down or are scared to go outside of their houses during these types of pandemics who hoard it. Since no-one can give them a timetable on when it will return to normal they panic buy certain items. TP happens to be one of those items. Here, when it happened back in the spring the other items people bought a lot of were cheese and eggs.

Obama’s new book should be plentiful and would probably make a good substitute.

Knew a family that when their Grandma died and they cleaned out her house. She had dozens of underwear in under her bed still new from WW2.

On the TP, use good judgement. Save more red corn cobs than white. The red gets you started, white for knowing when your done. Maybe that explains old peoples fascination with toilet paper.
Our one big thing was you always order something from Sears so you be sure to get that big thick catalog.

Just gotta be innovative and come up with a vey convincing marketing campaign about how rear wipes made from coon pelts ( low dollar pelts) are the up ands coming newest items for those who want only the very best for their backside. A person could possibly make several billion $$ from this idea............................................. but I doubt it as there is a risk involved !!!!

Yep toilet paper getting wiped out again

In the many versions I have heard of the bear and bunny pooping in the woods joke, the rabbit says "Yes, I do have that problem." If the poop didn't stick, the rabbit would not be good to wipe with.

I have a 24 pack that I'd be willing to trade for a 3 bedroom ranch on an acre & a half.

"There once was a man from Racine,..he invented a butt wipe machine..string and a cob, did a pretty good job, but was a son of a birch to keep clean.

Probably used a waxy paper so it would even work for that.

The worst part about cobs today is finding a white cob for the checker.

Picked up a crapload of tp at Sam's today. Pun intended.

some friends were selling at farmers market , their last farmers market run , pre orders only and pick up in a parking lot March 20th was their biggest ever

then they got a deal with FedEx they pick up at the farm and do next day delivery to the area business is good for them with people home
