These guys come up on here from time to time. They were possibly the greatest Kodiak brown bear guides ever. A guy I knew hunted with Pinnell and Talifson in 1959, and in 1990, he told me he had filmed the hunt. He asked me to do a magazine article on the hunt, which I wrote for him. He put the film onto a VHS tape and in exchange for writing the magazine article, he gave me the VCR tape and told me to keep it and do what ever I wanted with it. He died a few years later.
Fast forward I was thinking about that tape the other day so I went up into the attic of the garage and found it. I converted it to digital and uploaded it to my youtube channel. It will premiere at 6pm central this evening. Thought you might enjoy it. It's definitely one of a kind.
They sure did. I first started working in the fly in camps a long time ago and a Gruman Goose was often the plane. I thought they were old back then and that was a long time back. Never been in a widgeon.

Thanks !! Great old Grumman Widgeon there ! There was one still flying in Kodiak a few years ago
I flew in one of those years ago. There was a guy named Ken Bunch out of Gulkana who flew us in in one. Quite a plane. I poured over the Last of the Great Brown Bear Men, had a copy of it back in the eighties.
