GREAT store. They have sucked my wallet dry many times. No regrets on giving them my money.

Too bad for Sportsmans although I feel like the end was near for them anyway. BP absolutely ruined Cabelas. Turned them into a second rate clothing store with their Read head brand junk.

This leaves Scheels, Rogers and Fish USA IMO.

Terrible news IMO. Sportsman's was one of the last of that type store around here that BPS hadn't ruined. Scheels, Mills, and smaller shops will get many folks business around here now. I know a lot of people who wouldn't darken BPS doorway any quicker than Dicks.

Capitalists bemoaning capitalism. Sure we don't like the fact that massive centralization and lack of diversity is not good for the consumer but then why prop up with great gusto, no subsidies, may the strongest survive etc. etc.

Sigh, it's going to be a long two years.
Myself, I'm thinking my shares in Sportsman's Warehouse went up 38 percent in after hours trading Woohoo for me and capatalism.

On the upside, those itemsI want to be picked up can now be picked up at my local store. Oh wait, free shipping. So returned at my local store.

And I don’t like buying the cheep crap. Long for the days of Cabela’s quality. Sportsman’s was great second. Bass pro is great for fishing and letting the kids see the fish in a free zoo.

The blame will fall on the people that own Sportsmans. Too old to continue? Too greedy to pass up a lot of money? Can't find good help, don't want anymore aggravation?

Well darn. BP has a store just 30 miles south of me across the Tn border. Cabelas had a store in Bristol Va about 7 miles closer but about a year after the buyout the Cabelas store closed. I was hoping Sportsmans Warehouse would put a store in the empty building and give BP some competition, but that's not going to happen.

Pretty much. I'm local to the Ba$$ Pro store mother ship in Springfield Missouri. It's hard to find merchandise there that's not made overseas or in China; and Cabela's is the same. If I'm forced to buy stuff made in Sri- Lanka or China I'd just as soon buy it from Wal-Mart. It's all the same.

At the risk of sounding argumentative, no it's not. I don't know how Cabela's got the Chinese to produce the quality of goods they did for them but most every item I've ever bought from Cabela's stood the test of time. BP is in the process of running Cabela's into the ground as best I can tell.
