The quality went south years ago when they started having them made in China. It's a shame too because they used to be my favorite outdoor boots. The last pair I bought (years ago) leaked like a sieve right out of the box even though they had Irish Setter's version of Gore-Tex in them.
Eh...wot?

Its been 10-15 years, but the Irish Setters I had were by far the most comfortable hunting boot I’ve ever worn. My old Irish Setter Buck Trackers (1200 grams Thinsulate, Goretex liner) were the warmest, driest, most comfortable hunting boot I ever owned. They were made in America. My newest pair of Elk Trackers don't compare, They are made in China.

Not sure how I forgot, but the work boots I’ve worn for the past couple years are Irish Setters. Kasotas I think. I wear them about daily through hay season and general farm use throughout the year. I have to say they’re near bulletproof. Not even a stitch has come undone and never had damp feet yet. Even wear them turkey hunting. I’ve never had a pair of work boots last like these. Can’t speak to the model in question, but they still are capable of making good quality boots.

I wear Red Wing boots for work. 402's for three seasons and 1411's for winter work. I get three-plus years out of the 402's and the 1411's are about six years old now and ready for replacement. Both models are made in America.
Red Wing has also started making some models in China. Their Worx line is made in China I believe. From talking to other contractors and construction workers, they are junk compared to the USA models.

I'm glad some of you guys have had good luck with the Chinese Irish Setters, assuming that's where they were made. That has not been my experience.
Does Irish Setter make any models in the US still?

I think any boot made in china or similar is a gamble. I only buy cheaper boots on sale now. All seem like junk. Whats the difference between a $70 on sale boot and a $200 reg price boot, both made in china? I had a pair of irish setters years ago, they were great but heavy. My chicken legs dont like heavy boots. 130dollars!
