Before I retired, I worked in the coal industry for 37 years. The last 12 years of my career I was general manager of a company that mined over 5 million tons of both thermal and metallurgical coal a year. I do understand the coal industry.
In Pennsylvania, coal fired generating stations have been replaced by those fired by natural gas. Because gas is cheap. The northeastern US is home to some of the world’s richest natural gas beds, the Marcellus and Utica reserves. It sells at a ridiculously low price here because we are at ground zero for production.
Folks in the coal business saw the demise of coal for power generation when the drilling started in the early 2000’s, long before Obama’s war on coal. I was raised on the coal seams in jefferson/tuscaloosa/walker counties in Alabama. I remember when they just put in wells to exhaust the coal bed methane to the ooen air just to degassify the seams to make it safe to mine. The first capture well went in less than a quarter mile from my dad's forty acre tract. They leased a right away to pipe salty groundwater into the creek. This would've been back in the mid to late eighties and was a joint venture between the US energy dept and energen corp. By the 2000s wells were going in everywhere ahead of the long walls then going in after, gob wells, to scavenge what was released after the fall. Not sure how they do it now that Jim Walter went under and Drummond shut down just about all underground stuff.

Coal may be your choice, but it's no longer the choice for utility companies.
Only because of regulations. My electric provider still uses a large chunk of coal for their generation our power is cheap compared to many others Even with all the restrictions liberals have heaped on the use of coal for producing electricity in the US, coal is the second largest source of electrical power in the US. https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=427&t=3Keith

The point is that both natural gas and renewables are increasing and coal is decreasing. Change IS happening. How is that Healy coal mine doing?

Jim Walters Resources re-emerged as Warrior Met Coals. Warrior? That is right. Warrior is the river that overlays the Warrior coal field. Officially it's the Black Warrior river but just the Warrior to us locals. I claim it as my river, hence the handle. BTW, the city of Tuscaloosa is also Black Warrior in the native tongue and is sited at the furthest point a flat-out could make it up river. One of it's first exports was coal pried from exposed seams lining the bluffs up river.

Change is always happening. Many don’t see it even as it happens to them. An example of that would be generations of people that complain about all of the time today’s youngsters spend online while not even realizing tvey’re Sharing tweets, YouTube links and Facebook memes on an online trapping forum. Many won’t even acknowledge they’ve changed into the very thing they dislike.

Well in the area I speak of there are two power plants, Gorgas and Miller. Steam plants need two things fuel and water. They each sit on a branch of the river and on top of the biggest coal reserve in the south in three major seams. Doesn't get any cheaper than that unless you start putting in place rules that won't let you dig your own property. Makes sense. If we had coal here, I would know more about it and likely be a fan. We just have a little bit in the NE part of our state.

For 1 thing there is a Chinese whistleblower that has testified that 5 million ballots were shipped from China for the election. Ballots used in the Georgia Judiciary hearing last week showed Democrat ballots that didn’t match official Republican ballots. The Democrat ballots did not have a BAR CODE. Can you imagine that no bar code.
Just remember what PATRIOTS are stepping forward to protect the sanctity of our greatest asset as an AMERICAN and to FREELY vote!
We WILL find out by January 20, 2021 at 12:00 noon who has fought for we the Deplorables! What did the Republican Governor of Georgia say about this? Or is he in cahoots with the riggers or do they have something on him or his family?

Y'all folks forget these state folks still have to live here after Trump is gone, in 4 or 8 don't matter, plus they either have higher aspirations in the swamp or like feeding at the trough. Kemp won't even enforce state law that he got passed why do you think he would go to the mat for a yankee he hates? Besides, Y'all give southern governors to much credit. They are not much more than figureheads power wise. The legislatures saw to that when they wrote the Jim Crow constitutions post reconstruction.
