Dirt we certainly don’t need a $700 beaver. $500 would suffice

My first buck mink taken in 1953 sold for 42.00 with which I purchased a Remington 572 Fieldmaster and a brick of long rifles(at a local hardware store, an expensive choice no doubt) and had change left over(less than a buck but change). Today 50 of the same mink would maybe buy the same rifle and ammo. That was about the end of the period when fur was bringing fair value. Prices adjusted for inflation have since then just oscillated slowly downward. Many trappers have become proficient at catching lots of animals so have been able to make decent returns but only by industrializing their operation.

If all laborers get $15 an hour minimum wage as China Joe wants that will make more fur unprofitable to process.

Seems it would depend on the fashion industry.

At $500 a head Rally Hess would be a millionaire in the first month of season!

I have nothing clever to put here.

Main problem with this is in a human life, during the years that we are in good enough shape to trap, we get to experience a good fur market about twice.

So true

Tough to beat the late 70s early 80s markets a guy could make a living back then.

True environmentalists should be realizing that faux fur microfibers are polluting the oceans and killing vulnerable sea life which could cause a cascade of problems as keystone species come under attack.

Sustainable, durable, true fur. The responsible choice.

Im just curious how much anti trappers/hunters are suppressing the market. I know alot of them still buy leather but im curious if they have much of an affect.

Truth. Trappers and trapper organizations should be working to get this out there in the public eye.

Did you see the video of Groenwalds facility stacked to the rafters with frozen coyotes? Coincidence that when they jumped into Canadian coyotes the market began to drop?

Last February Canada Goose came out with a new ad campaign hiring no other than Kate Upton. The very woman who sky rocketed the Canada Goose coyote trimmed parka into the stratosphere with her cover picture on the Sports Illustrated Feb. 2013 issue.
This time Canada Goose used her to shutdown their fur program and save the Polar Bears.
https://www.vogue.com/article/kate-upto ... r-activism
Not one single piece of fur in the campaign and worse still they are supporting the Polar Bear extinction myth now.
Their fur announcement came out exactly on Earth Day last spring.
Sorry but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the direction.
