Does anyone have any experience with them? I've seen some people on Youtube use them for dispatch work and pest control. Supposedly there are some that (if legal) can be used for game up to deer size.

With ammo the way it is right now I've been pondering purchasing one so I can still enjoy plinking without crying every time I pull the trigger. There's as many manufacturers of air guns as there is of "regular" firearms. I've been eyeing a company called Brocock (yes, that's the name) they seem to have some quality stuff that isn't priced like a Perazzi.

Anyone have any experience with them or with any of the others?

There is an air gunners show on what ever network has the freedom brand trapping show. The only one I watched a father and son team killed deer with ariguns!

Here's one you probably can't afford. 308 Quackenbush. Only a handful made every year, but what a quality big bore airgun! That coyote killed at 40 yards... ran about 25 yards before it piled up.

I love air rifles. My current rig is a Benjamin Marauder in .25 caliber. I use a hand pump instead of a SCUBA set up. I pump to 2800 psi and get about 6 shots before accuracy trails off, but am getting about 40 fpe with how it's set up. I use this more than any of my .22LRs, so much quieter, and the accuracy is phenomenal.

Absolutely love air rifles. Got into them during the .22 shortage. Cast your own pellets, and with the hand pump, it is pretty self sufficient. I got into it for more of a precision set up for pigeons, and to test long range shooting on a smaller scale. I'd love to go with the big bore, but mainly stick to bow hunting for larger game.

Do you pump the air or is it a CO2 cylinder?

Check out Sam Wood Outdoors on YouTube. He has several. This year he got a fully automatic air rifle. Is sweet. I think he gets them from Utah air guns.

I pump it, they sell the compressors that do the high pressure air for anywhere from $700 up, but I bought a $200 hand pump that will handle the pressure. I just wanted the most self reliant kit I could get, without having to buy CO2 or worry about electric. Pumping to 3000 psi gets old, but it makes me make sure each shot counts!

I started with a Benjamin discovery and loved it except for the low shot count per fill and single loading also not regulated. So after wearing out 2 of them I switched to an umarex gauntlet in 22 caliber. I absolutely love it! More accurate than any 22 lr I won except my target rifle and comes with a 10 shot rotary magazine. I get about 60 regulated shots out of a fill and it's awesome to go to wally world and walk past all the empty ammo shelves and pickup a tin of 500 rounds for less than $10. Between the two different guns I've owned I have killed rabbits, squirrels, pigeons, Skunk, coon, coyote, bobcat, armadillo, porcupine, and even a few hogs. Can be a pain to pump up by hand but they are a blast to shoot and whisper quiet.

Steve Scott had a TV show several yrs ago where he hunted most big game with .30 or .40 cals.
Probably find him on utube.

My son bought a Sig Sauer semiauto pellet rifle to shoot with his kids. CO2 cartridge, 30 shot magazine. Very accurate, never saw it jam.

It's a rabbit hole for sure. I've had at one time quite a few of the big name pcp air rifles. While they work, they are great. When they develop problems, they are a pain.
A fella once told me there are two kinds of pcp guns, ones that leak and ones that are getting ready to leak. I have a handful of quality German springers now in .177 and .22 that are as accurate as anything out there. Easy to tune for a nice shot cycle and no worry about an air supply. But be warned, the rabbit hole is long and deep, lol.

You can burn a lot of time watching videos on youtube of people shooting all kinds of things with airguns

I watched an hour of night vision air gun vs rats
Can't even imagine the amount of rats some of these dairy barns and such have, they are killing 100+ a night

I bought my boys each a .22 cal Benjamin maximus for x mas from midway on sale for 135 e and I found a free shipping code. I bought a Chinese hand pump off Amazon for $69 and cheap scopes from Walmart.

They only fill to 2000 psi so are easy to pump and are good for 30 shots. Shoots around 850fps and they shoot very tight groups.

Used it for dispatch this year worked flawlessly on beaver, coon, coyotes, fox ,and opossum. Will handle 80% of my shooting needs. Plinking, small game , and the boys building shooting skills. Pellets are available and you can order a mold from NOE and make your own pellets if you catch them in a trap.

Good info - for those guys who have PCPs: I realize you can get a high pressure hand pump but if you want the tanks filled where do you take them? Scuba shops? How much does it cost?

Scuba and paint ball shops , some fire departments will fill them. I was told by one place $5 per fill.

Some places only fill to 3k psi. It all that's needed for paint ball and extends the life of their compressor.

Carbon Air tanks are expensive and are required to be tested every 5 years or places won't fill then. I read testing is a few hundred.

You can get 4500 psi compressor starting at $300. A 74 cf carbon tank will cost over $500. Cheap compressors are only rated for filling guns. The run time is to long for filling tanks. Heat is the enemy.

That said a guy showed me his set up this week with the cheapest Chinese compressor he has been running going on 2 years. He bought out of date fire department tanks and filled his on with it. takes about an hour he said. Out dated tanks are cheap $50 & tanks will fill your gun almost instantly. Filling DC directly to your gun from cheap compressors takes about 3 min I'm reading.
