Might be other names for it. To make a plus set, drag a bait a distance leaving a line of scent on the ground, walk off to a point to start a 2nd line of scent that will cross middle of first line, like writing a big + sign on the ground. Put traps near where the lines cross.

Legendary Arizona cat trapper Mel Hershberger talked about the set in his cat trapping book. He said he should use it more often but indicated it took too much time.

Have made it in a "Y" configuration with blood. The straight line is on travel way and sets are made at the ends of the Y. One on each side. This works very well. Beef blood is readily available. After being frozen and thawed the coagulated blood becomes liquid and ready for use.

Unless a k9 is being chased or is giving chase over the blood, it is stopping.

Yep leaving even more scent for attraction factor. I have used trailing scents for many years. Blood is a winner.

I did it one time on a frozen creek bed with fresh powdery dirt peed on by a young female I let go. I caught 3 toms in 5 nights and I wish I had kept her (in a cage LOL) She was ripe and the big ol toms knew it. I know that was a rare situation and I keep reading the bobcats don't key in on scent. I'm not nearly so sure

I think it's aloof nature of bobcats to key in on some scents some of the time.
