lol, Thanks guys. I hear what you are saying on building prices as material is skyrocketing. I'm thinking of Rough Cut Hemlock on exterior, metal roof. Right now I've been working out of the bottom of a barn and top of a machine shed. I need better organization skills. You guys probably think some of your tips are obvious but when meeting with the builder I'd like to have these things we take for granted on paper. Anything else you can think of?

You might need a second mortgage to buy the building materials with today’s prices that would be my concern. Maybe look for a building to move that might be cheaper or a steel building you could trim up when wood prices go down in the future. Money is no object here Jerry, it's Don's not mine. lol A lower parking by 3-5" with a drain will help keep water from wet or ice/snow covered vehicles away from your other areas too Don. My shop floor gets soaked when I park the truck in there and the water makes everything on the floor get wet even though it does have a floor drain it takes time for the water to find it. I hear good things about in-floor heating too...

Whatever size you think you need, add 10%, then double it, then make it twice that size. Good luck!

Whenever I am in the kitchen of a restaurant and I see one of those all in one stainless sink and deep countertop jobs with a hose and nozzle suspended above it I think how hand that would be for washing fur, cleaning game, or generally anything else I needed to do

Those are some good suggestions. I might be able to find a wash sink used.

I cannot help but think of all the times one of those would have come in handy- filleting fish, butchering frogs, boning out dear of hogs, washing vinegar off traps, rinsing mud of coons- you name it.

Don't get a stainless steel toilet, they're cold as blank...don't ask how I know!

14X44 it was the old trap club, free if I moved it. I jacked it up cut the hold downs then my buddy used his stack mover to haul it to the house. It was wired already but I rewired it and replaced the 2 foot knee wall with treated lumber and added the overhead door. I run a second pump off of my outdoor boiler to heat it added a big pitcher window I got from my glass guy on a canceled order. It has a back dark room to age baits and glands in and store my stretchers when not in use.

I read where you plan for a metal roof, if you get any amount of snow, make sure to put snow stoppers on the roof above the doorways or you’ll be shoveling rock hard snow when the roof cleans itself. Or it takes out the windshield of you vehicles.

A dormer over the entry door is nice especially if its raining and you have to unlock the door. Push button (keyless) locks are great, can always get in and you can set codes for someone to use if you want to let them in. Put plenty of lights on the outside to light up areas by the doors for loading/unloading, maintenance checks on vehicles. Can also set your lights up on different banks so you can choose which lights you want on. Outlets by ALL the doors and outside the doors. Can never have enough. I used OSB on my walls, more durable than sheetrock, and you can hang (light) things in between the studs.
