I'm building a new trapping shed. I need to incorporate my lure room, fur handling area and skinning room, area to hang fur, freezer area, dirt room, trap storage, and shop area for working on traps. I'm trying to design it where everything flows. I need to add in my wash sink, tumbler, skinning machine, area for storing stretchers. I'd like to be able to easily load my traps, unload my catch, put my truck inside and side by side inside. I'm planning on two levels. A first floor and basement with lower side at ground level. I'll have an area outside for treating and waxing traps. Can you give me tips and suggestions. Show me your shed and tell me what you like and what you'd do different.

I'll give you a tip... Don't forget room for the bed. The wife will love it when you come home smelling like a black and white kitty.

You guys are off to a good start with suggestions. Thanks. Tell me more please. I'm thinking of an instant hotwater heater, bathroom, led lighting.

A few random thoughts... I like a mostly open floor plan Don. You can more easily adjust the sizes of the areas you want as your needs change. I'd only make about three rooms of it, one for your vehicles with a big door to the fur shed section and a separate room for lure building. I'd for sure want a walk-in freezer. Get your skinning machine set up so its plenty high, you'll want to be able to use it on deer and bigger stuff so get a larger than normal hoist, the prices don't go much higher to bump it up a couple sizes. You can't have too many lights, shelves, or work benches,,, and ceiling fans are terrific for moving air while being out of the way. I agree with storage up high, great places for buckets, cage traps, milk crates, etc... I really like the natural gas heat in my shop. A/C in the summer would be really nice. I'd want a roofed or even screened in porch with a concrete floor for outside jobs. ...... just some ideas from a wish list.
Oh and good security system. So many lowlifes these days...

Order a 42inch door for your walk out basement it comes in handy. And lever styled door knobs so you can open them when your hands are full or dirty.
Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

Exhaust fan, separated shed for trapping gear and traps, stretcher/ supply room that doubles as a dark room (flies don’t fly in the dark). Hanger hooks on the ceiling, shelves and work bench areas with a fleshing beam that folds into the wall. Outside box for 5 gallon pails to age lures and baits in.

These are some helpful tips which I had overlooked. I'm glad I asked. Anything else you can think of that will make a difference?

Double the size you think you need. Skinning area with concrete floor that can be hosed off and squeegied out the door.

Yep add a drain and bury a pipe in the cement for electric and water if your putting it in later you have a hole down to the dirt then.

You might need a second mortgage to buy the building materials with today’s prices that would be my concern. Maybe look for a building to move that might be cheaper or a steel building you could trim up when wood prices go down in the future.
