Folks set in their ways is absolutely fine by me. Its when they feel the need to disparage others just because they don't agree. Even when they have never tested the new way.

Look up some of Swampwolfs recent post. He had something he set a trap or two in just for that purpose I believe. Works for him.

I've placed a few #1s in the sand and clay mixture I call quick-clay because it grabs you fast and doesn't let go, I've lost a few pairs of shoes to it. It acts like concrete under my traps I have to press real hard on a stick for them to fire. Keep in mind they were set for mink so zero pan tension, I will have to try underalls for underwater.

I trap the mo. river with its flowing sand it'll put a trap out of commission in just a few hours, I found fiberglass insulation under the pan keeps enough sand from under the pan so it'll fire for several days.

Since you’ve been out trapping I’ll sum up what I’ve learned about coonman:
He’s 60
He’s not tech savvy
He hates his boss and sometimes his job
His truck is running on its last cylinders
He has a bad knee
He’s a coon trapper and apparently a beaver trapper too
He doesn’t like doctors

Now you are caught up on the legendary coonman.

He sounds like a number of people I know and that could be any of us down the road.

I've trapped lots of rivers. And as far as I know there Is no way you can beat the sand Issue If there Is any current at all. Once you set a trap you are disturbing the natural flow and all of a sudden you have sand build up, It's just like what a snow fence does when It snows. Putting something under the pan may keep the sand out In that area but your trap may still get buried so It wont go off.
I have caught beaver and had them buried so deep I couldn't pull them out of the sand.

I like it when the behavior police show up and take people to task.

Again I’m being quoted, yet never put anyone down. Also know for a fact I’ve never rejected an idea. Heck I try everything I read, lol. Some has worked and some hasn’t. Apparently I’m being confused with someone else. This is twice now. All the information I posted is from his own threads and posts through the year. Mrs. Cathryn thought he was a kid....
