Better live beside a Subaru dealer unless you like driving hours for maintenance. Which could just be a perception due to the fact that they have a life span twice that of north American built vehicles.

No...it's because you have to have dealer repairs and there are no dealers in rural area for subarus

Truck plant is 20 year old and has 385,000+ miles on it and counting. I can also work on it myself and get parts at the local auto parts stores. I guess it's all perception.

Hang some hippie beads on the rear view mirror, and put a rainbow bumper sticker on the back and you will have a great trapping rig in disguise. Great idea will go right along with my long hair and tie die shirt on wearing. but I think a vw tdi bug may be even better.

its about time for a new vehicle, does anyone have experience with subaru cars? On my 4th one since late 80's. Presently have '18 Forester 2.5I (cheapest trim) 50,000miles 9" clearance, all wheel drive keep good tires on it and will climb a tree. Don't worry about dealer location cause never have to go there . changing oil and filters don't get any simplier and cost to maintain is about 1/5 of my pickups. Cheap mileage (30mpg). It's the Tacoma of suv wagons!!!

They are great cars, for what they are intended for.
My wife has one, and loves it. I'd probably own one too, if they made one big enough, and with enough towing capacity
Where they shine is traction, and visibility. The opposed horizontal engine sits low allowing for a lower hood, while maintaining plenty of access to all the mechanicals. Full time all wheel drive is great, but, they do sit a bit low for some offroad or heavy snow situations.
They are a bit expensive, due to all the electronic gadgetry that most of us could easily do without.
I have seen a few with Semper Fi bumper stickers.

The wife had a tuned Subaru Impreza STI, that was a fun car to drive, she's got a Jeep now... I prefer she has the Jeep.

Son has had a couple. Timing belts around 70G used to be common but I don't know about current models. They are very capable in crappy weather with decent tires. And they are reliable. Just don't forget the Bernie and Coexist decals. bernie and coexist? I am sorry I don't understand Absolutely .....here they come from the factory with those stickers already installed

Surprised at all the good reviews. My buddy has owned and operated a garage for over 30 years. He's always told me not to buy one. They are one of his most worked on vehicles and not cheap to fix. Says once they get 100,000 miles be prepared for constant breakdowns.
