Exactly, a proper capitalistic drive will find you in bed with all sorts of folks, their money is green after all. (very green in this case)

Capitalism is (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) bent on profits and done right, is blind to your creed, ethics, philosophy or whatever intangible -isms you espouse.

If you wanna take the high road, then suffer some sales, no biggie and you can sleep at night.

The road kept getting worse and worse but we kept going, it was more of jeep road and we really should not have been on it, but the subaru did get us out. I have never heard of stereotyping people for driving a Subaru, but I guess times are changing. I see a fair amount of them around here and my dad always had a subaru growing up and they were fairly reliable and you could get some miles out of them if you kept up on maintenance. That being said, I recently took my car in to get the oil changed at the dealership and they charged me like $125 which seemed like a lot. As far as cost, I got mine used for 15k and I would have bought a Tacoma if I could have found one in good shape for that much but I couldn't find any for that price unless it was like a 1999.I also dont want to get into the argument about what owning one means about you, I am just giving my two cents on the car and I hope it helps in the decision making. (If you can get a Tacoma thats what I would recommend because they are smaller than a full sized but they also can get through some rougher roads.)

Synthetic oil is expensive! $125.00 is out of line. It is easy to change oil in a Subaru. The oil filter is right on top of the motor.

My filters are on the bottom....The Mercedes turbo diesel has them on top though wink

I have to take my Subaru in to see why my millage is so poor. I am wonder if Everet the Mole Guy in the rear bumper will turn on those Sexy gal running around instead of someone from the same sex. LOL. I am glad I do not have to time to notice this BS.

If it hasn't been checked, the PCV valve has known oil consumption and gas issues. Easy enough to rule out.

Yea Shop Rate at Dealer's are close to $100/hr.
They prob said they topped off all the fluids and rotated the tires to? (Like full inspection)

A 5qt jug of Mobil 1 full synthetic and filter at Wallys is about $30.

we have a Subaru Legacy.

it has pretty impressive acceleration, and TONS of room in the trunk.

we did have to have the head gasket replaced; but my wife has confidence in it for winter driving and loves it.

THIS^^^

Do all Subaru owners do this? I'm sure they don't... But enough of them do that it has become a hilarious stereotype. When we see one on the interstate with all the stickers and Oregon/Washington plates it has become a fun game to see which stereotype the occupants live up to when we pass them.

Neither here nor there but I have noticed all the Subarus over 5 years old at auction have at least 2 of these 3 things:

1. Dog Hair everywhere
2. New tires
3. Smell like weed

Not sure of the connection, but they all have at least two. lol

I have had good luck with the several used ones I have owned, Outbacks and Foresters. Beat the snot out of them too. We do have one legacy wagon here now with a bad head gasket, but it made it home under its own power so the record of them never leaving one of us a'foot is in tact. We have driven them fishing in Canada, pheasant hunting in SD and trapping in NE. Have never bought one with less than 125k miles and run them all well over 200K. The wife got one stuck after the flood of 2019 on a washed out road but it was because she fell off in a rut and high centered.

I doubt any of the big three would pass the "never donated to an anti trapping organization" either.
