Well that is what Democrats do although i believe had Trump re-elected there would have been a stimmy. Probably a trillion less. Meh, a trillion here a trillion there. The world has embraced MMT.

Yes. You may be tongue in cheek a bit but the time to completely reject MMT has past. It needs to happen yesterday !!

We're at the point we were warned years ago that there will be no good options left. There's going to be a lot of pain eventually.

The time to reject MMT was the 80s.

You know me Ken, I'm a firm believer in sound money practices, I believe what is happening now was a foregone conclusion when Nixon took us off the gold standard or even sooner than that. 1913

I could feed a village. I have better things to do though. I have my meat birds going and the garden is well underway. I prefer poultry and venison to coon meat. I have skinned enough to know never to eat one and would never do that to another human unless they voted for Biden. LLL

Bought my first home during Regan administration 14.7 percent interest if I remember right. The world keeps turning and we will keep buying and living.

I bought my first home durning Reagan's 1st term. Inflation was running near 14% in 1980.

You don't suppose the Roman Empire thought the same thing?

Yeah that was some scary times almost got a adjustable which could have went up or down I think 5% and thought about a possible 19% no way. I cant believe what you could mortgage a house for now, even my near 100 year old mother said she never saw interest rates this low.

If I remember correctly Trump was not a fan nor wanted to shut the country down for Covid. He was hated for saying that. Nor did he want to do the stimulus. Trump wanted the country to stay open and people to work. But congress over ruled. And every TV station. And Hollywood actor. So for the ones that voted this administration in. Enjoy everything you are getting. And then some.

Of course she hasn't, it's illogical. In real terms, long term interest rates have gone negative.

It wasn't Trumps fault the country shut down, that is pretty much solely on liberal governor's. I'll have to disagree he wasn't in favor of the stimmys at least not payments to the people. He was in favor of not bailing out state and local governments.

Stimulus plans aren't the only thing that inflationary, tax cuts and spending increases that add to the deficit are as well.

If we use the same inflation calc during Carter, we are approaching that level of inflation now.

1974. Interest on a home loan was 24 percent. Saving account interest was between 5 to 7 percent. When the interest rate is zero. Banks borrow money between one another. Once the banks can’t borrow money for zero interest. Then they must start offering interest to encourage savings. So the banks can use your money. My father has a saying. That has been passed down thru our family for generations. Figures don’t lie. But liers figure. There are many young people on this site. I want them to understand at this time in history. We are witnessing again. Two types of thinking in the USA in government spending. Last 4 yours encouraged work. You can spend money and pay down debt when everyone is pitching in. Now that unemployment is high. This administration continues to spend. Here is a life lesson. You can’t spend what you don’t have. You can’t spend your way out of debt. I still believe America is the greatest country in the world. We as citizens have to fight everyday to keep it that way. Vote early. Vote often in 2022.
