Probably better than trying to find a sharp rock when you need to cut something. No experience with that model. Could be a winner, could be junk chineesium. If it's cheap enough you wouldn't worry if ya lost it in the drink, go for it. Charlie

You get what you pay for normally. There are many different types of axe heads and handle combinations for many different applications.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Yeah I get that I guess. This one is light weight but has enough handle to make me think it could get some work done.
I have an Estwing (all steel construction) about the same size and shape and this new one is probably 25% lighter.

If it has a 24 inch handle and a 2 to 2 1/2 lb head it is likely a good bush axe for light splitting and general bush work. Like this one i've had for 30 years or so.

Canoe axe? Does it float? No but it could double as a small paddle in case of emergency.

You need to get two if you are using it for a Kayak tape them together at the handles ... If ya had a Canoe, one of them will do ya

Looks like it would be ok for the price. Not fond of the grain direction in the handle.

I used her to split and ready some pecan wood for a small smoker- the little gal liked that work for sure. If I knew I had a big job, I'd still load the 3# Estwing but I do think this little model will be good to keep in the front of a kayak where it can be got at quickly.
Thank you for all the replys

Well, you've gone and done it now Leftlane. Admitting to being in a kayak has cost you your cowboy card. Maybe okay in Kansas but not in Texas.

on the light side for a 19" stick but it's a sharp metal thingy that'll do what ya need, when ya need it. I like the rhineland pattern in 3lb+. that's a good price a new Adler.

" If you're gonna play in Texas, ya can't do it in a kayak. " Ha I got broad shoulders so let me have it. I get a good workout in a kayak, fish spots nobody else can get to, and if you could see my kayakin companions ya might sing a different tune LOL.

Now if you want to catch some of them high altitude western cats, just haul that miniature hackax up here come November and build your self forty or fifty cubbies and walk throughs, guard them with some #3s an 650s an then you can answer your self whether you did good.

CMCF that sounds like quite an adventure no doubt. As far as 'enhancements' the paddle board women do look a little store bought but the kayakin friends I take along are homegrown. I already got a plastic boat I don't need a plastic date LOL.
As far as open carry yall's Canadian firewood must be wimpy- I've tried to scare mine into a pile but i never works w/o a bunch of elbow grease.
