When I used poplar stakes on my floats and stools the rats just ate them up, best bait I ever used. But a little poplar bud oil smeared on any wood or PVC stake will probbaly work . I even used green survey tape as bait and they just ate It up.

Use lure or bait or both It's not going to make your catch any less. And It may even Increase your catch.
