It was common knowledge for centuries, all around the World and then the information was banned by the popes, to seize more power. It's hard to compete with legitimate heirs in countries that follow kings, who inherit their crowns, so the knowledge of Jesus's descendants had to go. It's also easier to control people with a God than a man.

If some royals decided to fake these records, with all the documentation, they had many years of work put into doing so, in an incredibly thorough manner. The amount of corroborating evidence seems impossible to fake to me.

They were left out for a reason. Because they weren't inspired by God.

Emperor Constantine wanted to unite his empire under one religion. To do that he had to incorporate a lot of other religious belief and tradition into the new one.
