LOL!

There is a change coming into the language involving the word "they," when used as singular.

Work asked our pronouns, I told them mine were master, boss, and king. They said those weren't pronouns but I said we could go to HR. They then said I would be no longer required to put them on emails lol

That was funny.

I'm seeing people put their "preferred pronouns" on email signature blocks.

If her name is Jennifer, I am calling her--her. She can deal with it.

I'm in an industry that encourages that in our signatures. I haven't done and won't but I don't really care either way. My parents gave me a first name that could be either gender, I work in a woman dominated industry. I am referred to as "she" on a regular basis and have never been offended, I just chuckle. If some trans person gets offended if they are called he or she...that sounds more like a personality issue.

It just goes hand and hand with their mental illness.

My preferred pronouns are "your royal majesty" or the sovereign". If you refuse to use these, you are a bigot. You've been warned.

Got to agree. It's either XX or XY...it's all about science. You can lop things off and take hormones, but at your core you're still either XX or XY.

I thought you said it was "Captain Poopy Pants". Yup, I remember distinctly, you said "Captain Poopy Pants".

I really don't see the need for an upgrade, as the original fits you perfectly. grin

I think this borders on schizophrenia.

Captain poopy pants is more of a job title than a preferred pronoun grin

I'm using "I".

Two weeks ago I was considering two different companies for shipping software. I sent the same tech support questions to both companies. I wanted the answers but I also wanted to see how good their tech support was. Both replied with pretty good answers. Sarah with no pronouns replied from company A, Dave with (her/him) under his/her name replied from company B. (names changed to protect the guilty). Guess which company is doing my shipping now?

Diane and I met a gay man, who was camping with a friend of ours. He was having trouble in his social circle for calling a woman, who wanted to be referred to by masculine pronouns, female pronouns. The woman was dating and having normal sexual relations with a straight man, but believed herself to be a gay man, who landed a straight man. The confused woman called the gay man a homophobe and had tried to get him fired for not respecting gay people. It was a hilarious story.

I was asked to put pronoun stickers on an ID conference badge once. Usual supply of he/him, she/her, they/them ... told them there weren't any of my pronouns on the table. They asked, I said "me", myself", "I" in addition to "Master", " Boss", "Owner", "Final Word", "Head Honcho" and a few others. I didn't get to have any pronouns on my badge .... Win!

The boyfriend had been with the confused woman since before she decided she was a man and thus suddenly gay. She considered her boyfriend a straight man she had turned gay after she decided she was a man. I don't know his thoughts on the subject. I wish I had a videotape of the gay man telling the story. It was hilarious.

Every day I learn something new about the world I live in that either disgusts me or I am completely confused as to what people must be thinking. This is a little bit of both

Stuff like that is why I have a hard time believing that being gay isn't a choice. This is far from the first time I've heard of someone all of a sudden deciding they're gay, or conversely, not gay.

I worked with a girl for a number of years who said she was gay. She would always be commenting on other women's breasts and stuff. Then one day after about 4 years she announced she was pregnant, and getting married.... to a man. I said, "I thought you were gay." She replied, "I'm not anymore." She's been happily married with 2 kids ever since.

Im a big fan of Jordan Peterson and he had a great response to this topic which was something to the effect of "respect is not given, its earned". I also believe its not my responsibility to figure out your confusion. All of us here can probably see and call the spade a spade.... or club...or joker

if it walks like a duck , talks like a duck , looks like a duck , do 4 out of 5 drunk guys in a bar care if it calls it's self a goose. he didn't say this person was in highly intelligent relationships just having seemingly normal relations but calling it something else.

if it walks like a duck , talks like a duck , looks like a duck , do 4 out of 5 drunk guys in a bar care if it calls it's self a goose. he didn't say this person was in highly intelligent relationships just having seemingly normal relations but calling it something else.

I mean I guess? But there's no way I could sleep with a man that called himself a woman, lol.

Best meme I saw concerning this ridiculousness was the 2 scumbags that Rittenhouse ended.

Their preferred pronouns: Was/Were

that's because you have standards and aren't a drunk guy in a bar , if they don't know sir names what's to say they shared pronouns lots of names that go either way.

Pat , Kelly , Aron , Jessy , Dallas , Austin , Tristain , jamie , johnie , Jackie , Tracie

You imagine it's a bit odd where you live....
try being involved in the ministry right now.

In a chaplaincy role (not a pastor because not leading a local church and not a missionary because not charged with planting a church) these days I hear a "new one" every week.
It's like the world is racing to be the zaniest first to get it all uploaded online asap.

This past weekend, I had a man (biologically) who I was asked by the physician staff to support with pastoral care, who when I met him was dressed in a mini-skirt, heels, and a tight fitting top. Said his name was "Amy (not their actually name)." Since Chaplaincy is actually the "Church in Action" and a "Ministry of Presence," we are tasked with meeting people "Where they are."
Amy (man) is very well educated and shared a story of life trauma that had him, now a her, believing with secular counselor's help, that maybe being the "other" gender would not be so traumatic. In other words, the man (Amy) had been educated and counseled that the gender they were born into was the reason life had sucked to that point.
So, try the other gender. See how that one does.
I hadn't heard that one before.
Every week.....
It's a new one.
We're screwed up as a culture y'all.

Guess what the biological man (Amy) does for a living?
They are a law maker in the area and that's as much as I can share.
They will be making laws as a lawyer in a high ranking position.

I see an alarming number of gays on the rez which I wouldn't think would go over very well but it seems to work. Saw a "Dude" last night at a basketball game wearing shorts (I was wearing a parka) and he had something tattooed below his right eye in cursive and he was carrying a purse. He WAS with a girl though...which may have been a boy......I need a beer.
I'm still not sure about this pronoun thing but maybe it'll settle in one day.

Don't many of those plains indians have a culture of "two spirits"?

Darned if I know. They do like spirits however. Probably not real choosy.
