My boys 9 and 11 came in this morning from running their small line of dp and coil springs. Around 8 traps or so. They were excited they had a mink.. it was in a duke 1.5 in a small ditch with dirt hole in the bank baited with fish.

So far numbers caught are way down this year. I guess we finally have made an impact on the popilation. Only 3 opossun, 1 coon and this mink so far. 2 years ago it was 14 coon and i did not keep track of opossum.

If i get some where to get lure and bait we will get som k9 sets out. They get around 4 coyotes and 2-4 fox eack yea4. K9 # stay more steady than coon and opossum.

I just want low preditor # on the farm and kids to have fun trapping.

That's really neat, I but they were smiling ear to ear. I've never used it but cut up mink would make great canine bait a lot of old trapping article's talk about mink for bait.
If you're short of lure I made up a batch of Roy kuykendell coyote lure, pm me lf they want to give it a try I'll give them a little only catch would be you would have to let me no if they caught any.

I can't imagine how wide their grins were. Congratulations to them. I can still remember my first mink and that was a long time ago

O yes they were smiling. Brought it into the living room in a bucket. Smiles all around especiall from me. I have only caught a few mink in my life. Seeing them do it was way better. They dont really have any first catches left on things that live here.

Way cool. Take a picture and don't lose it. I've searched for 40 years for that picture of that mink by the Christmas tree.

It was a large stinky male. I came in from skinning its a good thing my wifes nose is stoped up. If not i bet i would have a hard time keeping away from her with all this musk.
