I've had a plastic spoon in my lure box that I've used for the last 8 years on my line.
Today, I lost it and spent about an hour looking for it. Don't know why I'm so attached to the thing.
It's a PLASTIC SPOON for pity's sake, but it's been with me so long... Oh well... I must be going nuts!!

I understand completely, I have my first fishing bobber from when I was a kid, and lost it on day, spent most of another day on another trip looking for it. I found it and retired it forever. LOL

Opening day squirrel season 72 (day my daughter was born) cut myself a stick to carry squirrels on, stuck pocket knife in tree. Didn't miss it till got home. Didn't remember what tree, looked for it for two more seasons found it two years later right where I left it. Used it today to cut bale wrap off large rounds. Carried it for 25 yrs. on the job. Can't count deer, rabbit, squirrel, fish, and a million other chores I've used it for. I'm taken it with me. Large carbon steel double blade "Old Timer". Blades almost down to nothin. Ya your goin nuts, a lot of us are going with you.
Me.

BigBob, i reread this thread this morn. Brought back an old memory, once while wading a popular local creek for smallies with a fishing buddy he cast to a pool and his lure got caught in a tree on the far side of the 6 to 8 ft. deep pool, he reached into his pocket for his belly gun a 22 rim fire aimed at the limb fired 2 shots and retrieved his Rooster Tail, I thought "cool", some time later I found myself in a similar situation. Rapala just came out with the new for the time, line of lures useing computer design graphics, cost bout 4 bucks for my bait, I thought, I've seen this before so reached to my pocket pulled out my piece a cheap f.i.e.25 cal. Took aim fired-nothing, took careful aim fired and watched my new 4 dollar bait explode into a million pieces. Lesson for the day if your gonna shot something make sure you can hit what your aiming for. Made me chuckle.
Case.

In 8 years I would have lost at least two dozen of them.

I've got my favorite old hammer since I was a young man. I've had to replace the handle two times and the head once but by golly I love that ol' hammer! grin

Yep - stuck it in my coat pocket to make a castor mound set. Got down to the creek through all the brush and it wasn't there.
Went back today to check the set but still no spoon... Poo...

I got such a list old stuff don't get rid of can't even name them all.
If that spoon had lure on it. Good chance some critter could carted it off from where got dropped. I've lost couple pocket knives about drove me crazy looking for.
I still got my wisdom teeth in jewelry box never threw out. Had them pulled when was 22 years old.
