I never realized there were ever $50 beaver in Alabama.
Usually that or 150.00 each and you don't even have to put a knife in them! ADC work pays a bit more than fighting and struggling with hides.
I was talking about nationally not locally!

Gary has bought hatter beaver for past few years in Ga by paying the top quoted price of $6 for 2 year old beaver and up. The yearling beaver were $3. So, $6 and $3 was the only price piles for green frozen beaver pelts. This was last spring. It was 10$, then $8, then $6 past three years.
If the adult beaver price is now $12....then small beavers may be $6...
I would assume they would price dried pelts similar for hatters with $20 and $10.
We'll see in a couple months.

I just sold my 77 rough skinned beaver pelts to a traveling fur buyer and was happy. I kept the tail, castor, and carcass. He took the pelts with a "straight thru" nose count price. I hope he makes money as w/o him it would be finish or discard them all. And I now have room in the freezers to skin and store more for finishing until a later auction if I choose. I will guess I will make as much on them as I do on my coyotes per animal. I even Back Cut 5 of them for him to finish and try and see if the belly fur is truly worth more than back fur............... the mike Dang! Sounds like you’ve healed up pretty good! Last time I saw you you were on one leg!!!

20 dollars top price for beaver pelts is not an increase. 2x semis dk sold for $27.60 usd at the last FHA sale, and that is far from a top beaver. Most of us dont have those northern heavies. Most below the northern tier of the US are hatters. $20 for a large hatter is pretty good. Like Dirt stated: its still a hatter market....nothing has changed there, but demand for the hatters has ticked up slightly.

Swamp, I'll bet that the $20 is for the northern section beaver, (probably heavies), not southern hatters.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

If buying for the hatter market i don't understand why a northern beaver would be worth anymore than a southern beaver cause they buy hatter's by the lb and don't give a rip if they have holes in them, rubbed out or what, all they are going to do is shave all the hair off the pelt anyway.

I hear all the time...trapping isn't about the money, it's about being free, it's about our heritage, it's about the romance of being outdoors.
After reading through this thread...it's all about the money. LOL Just reducing loss..
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

The $20 Top is very likely for shearable quality on a blanket basis which is nothing to get excited about. If he’s paying $20 top on hatters then that could indicate an approximate $10/lb hatter market value depending on section. This is not the valuation of the hatter market from recent conversations with my source, however things do change. A blanket beaver here weighs 2.8 to 3 lbs. I'm guessing the market is $7 per lb. The market was $6 lb here last year. $7 the two prior years and $8 the year before that.

When the sport loses everyone due to low prices they know it will take big money to bring people back.
Nothing more than an attempt to save the supply chain.
I don't go deer hunting and give the meat away after spending hundreds of dollars to get it. Same deal.

Give an illegal alien a fish and he eats for a day. Deport him and you never have to feed him ever again!

If you are looking for something to do this spring, beaver prices are not so bad .................. Don't forget those castors! I need ! Looks like buyers are at the begging level.
