Simple squirrel by WCS is the old LT Grey design. One of our members here use to make a much better version with heavier wire.

I've never had any sort of luck with any sort of multi catch for tree rats. I think the guys touting them are targeting the colony living ground squirrels.

It depends on the bait and pre baiting them .

The second is eye opening .

Pre baiting is key .

Do not bother with using the trap in the above picture, it is worthless. I had 16 sqr. around the about trap and after 3.5 hours I had on in the trap. I would be PO'ed if I have paid the big bucks for this trap.

I have found any sort of box trap works well for squirrels, if you take a strong paper towel, I use Bounty, smash and rub in a spoon full of peanut butter and put it through the treadle of the trap, so that it's hard to pull out. The squirrels were jerk and pull for all their worth to carry the paper towel away and set the trap off. I've caught a lot of squirrels in 32" long 14" by 14" coon traps.

That's what he said . Said he always proper the doors open and pre baked them for a day or two and they would catch. Not Worth much as a microwave deal though. Actually wants me to build him a coon trap on a similar principle

The trap type is Somewhat important
But not as much as the bait, and even more. Placement-location

Where do squirrels feel safest?

They don't feel as free to enter a trap on the Ground. First night when you Need to catch a family Gang set up off the Ground

My best bait is LT's Original Black Walnut bait

Those will work fine as long as there are no gaps big enough for the squirrels to get through. They get very frustrated if they can't pull the paper towel out. It's fun watching them go nuts trying to take the paper towel out of the trap. They pull harder and harder and jerk the paper towel in different directions. Some of them will continue pulling on it within 30 seconds of the trap being sprung. I got the idea when I saw all the paper products squirrels were carrying out of trash cans at UD and all the trash squirrels put in their nests.

When I lived in town, I had a 6' wood privacy fence, as did all of my close neighbors. The squirrels traveled along the top of the fence. I just stacked rabbit cages against the fence, put pieces of plywood on top and put the traps on top of the plywood. The squirrels had to go down about a foot to enter the traps. Every trap would be full in 20 minutes if set at the right time of day.
