Here in Winnemucca the stores and fast-food places request exact change if paying cash or use debit/credit card. They told me it started when the banks were closed and they couldn't get their coin orders, as they either used the night drop or drive-up. Now they just don't want to be bothered as most of the fast-food places still have their lobbies closed. Just my 2 cents.

In no small part it is the other 15 or so countries that have adopted the US dollar as their official currency. I was in Ecuador a couple of months ago and I had never seen so many Sacajawea and Jefferson dollars in my life. Somalia, El Salvador, Panama, and a whole bunch of other countries have tons of US coins in circulation.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

I took 300 dollars worth of coinsto the bank a while ago and they kept thanking me for them. signs up in Market Basket looking for coins.
