There is an old saying that goes something like "Nobody is so poor that they can not afford a dog, some folks are so poor they can afford 3 or 4!" I guess who ever wrote that originally never saw dogfood prices like today's. My All Purpose Girl just sent me a text from town where she'd gone to grab a bag of dogfood for her 2 mutts. A 50lb bag of Pedigree for adult dogs.....$92.05!!

It's cheaper to buy a new dog than it is to about have a veterinarian do anything beyond the most basic of stuff, you can do yourself anyway.

There's gotta be cheaper stuff than pedigree. We feed ours the cheapest stuff bomgaar's sells, supplemented by beaver meat, popcorn, chips, thin mint cookies, noodles, eggs, sausage, and whatever else the kids feed him.

That reminds me of two gals holding a cardboard sign at the Walmart entrance in Rock Springs Wyoming. They had FIVE dogs on leashes trying to get sympathy. Big dogs.

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

She is my adult daughter. She has a hubby at home. I have, for years, always refered to my son on these T-man pages as my "All Purpose Boy". Hence the girl version.

Time for the dog to start eating more carcass. You could even can it to save freezer space.

We bought 50# bags of Pedigree last week. They were about $27. Your daughter got robbed.

In the old days, I don't think dogs ate much "dog food".

Seen a clip years ago , interviewer talking to a homeless person. The homeless person had a dog. The interviewer wondered how the dog got fed as the homeless person struggled to feed themselves let alone cared for the dog.

The homeless person had a simple remedy. They took the dog to McDonald's everyday and lifted the dog up into the dumpster. The dog knew what to do , foraged through the trash. The owner stood by to watch out for the garbage truck as the dog did it's thing.

Dog lived on scraps of McDonald's it's whole life. Pretty smart if ya ask me.

Aint that the truth. Now they have health insurance for dogs and everyone is getting rich.

Take care of the dog the best you can and let nature take care of the rest. It's going to be painful either way.

Except the Vet's got their pointy little heads together and made it against the law to do simple things like shots, that are REQUIRED BY LAW!!!!! And you can't just go in for the shots, you have to pay them for an office visit and that stupid little bandana they hang around it's neck. Even when you have a municipality that does a community shot day, mine was canx for 2 years due to the C-virus.
I buy the Sam's Club and Purina brands for $20 ish for 55-57 lbs. And have 3 bags standing by, because they kept saying pet food was gonna be in short supply.

Angela, that was the price she paid last week (under $30) She also does the mail order stuff.

Feed your dog well and keep it healthy. Ya never know ........

neighbor:
"That's a mighty fine dog you have. What's his name?"
me:
"You don't put a name to something you might have to eat!"

Had a guy living in his camper at my farm yard. Had 5 dogs but that's all he had. Camper had holes in the roof and sidewalls and the potable water tank doesn't hold water but he buys dog food every week for them things. He paid me every month but I just don't understand how people think that way. Oh well more power to them
