There are also Wisconsin Oneida people in Wisconsin and New York...As Walleyed points out here the NY Oneida Nation Representative is Ray Halbiriter, but he does NOT represent the Wisconsin Oneida People... It will be interesting to know who is spearing the fish...

How long if uncontrolled before fish populations are severely decimated ? How long after that happens before the natives start claiming its the US responsibility to keep them stocked? How long before that government branch agrees with them because its their retirement future ?.
Nah , probably never happen.

Hutchy posted a vid of Native spearing of pickerel on Georgian Bay. He also pointed out since the Natives took over the management of the fisheries that there are way more fish now for everyone. They harvest the eggs and milt and return the fertilized eggs to the streams directly as per their traditional way to ensure lots of fish for future generations.

I am starting to believe this is the Seneca Nation protesting the NYS Governor for freezing their bank account and using the funds to help build the Buffalo Bills new stadium!!!\
Basically saying "steal our funds and we will steal your fish!"
Hunters, Trappers and Anglers get dragged into some strange areas...

It's not just walleyes In WI. They draw down a lot of northern lakes anticipating spring run off. This traps muskies In pockets and the Indians spear them through the Ice.

Seneca & Cayuga bands of the Haudenosaunee supported the British during the Revolution and the War of 1812. And New York State has been sticking it to them every chance they get ever since as punishment/retribution for siding with Boco's British. Now a Days, it's always about the money. walleyed

I've never heard of this. I see the tribe spearing through the ice frequently, but I know of no bodies of water like you're describing.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Do you mean that for hundreds of years and before white men were here that the tribe would harvest eggs/milt for stocking? There's a specific, traditional way they do this?

Treaties are supreme law of the land. They may not supersede The US Constitution but do supersede State Constitutions. In Wisconsin it is important to remember that the US Government gave the right to hunt, fish, and gather, as long as the sun rises and sun sets. Negotiations led to the Safe Harvest Levels currently set. Also monetary payment, and casinos on and off reservations. Native Americans have dual citizenship and as such have all the rights of The United States and The Chippewa Nation, which are nations within The United States. Describe Native American?

I am getting a strong suspicion that this was a coordinated effort by members of the Seneca Nation to protest NYS Governor Hochul's freezing of their assets and seizing some 4 million dollars to be used for the new Buffalo Bills stadium...It just goes to show how hunters, trappers and anglers are so often used as pawns by governments....
Now I am not sure of this, but it is the hypothesis I have come up with...

Now I am not sure of this, but it is the hypothesis I have come up with... It was over 500 million that the Senecas have been holding out on paying as per THEIR agreement with the state. It the Senecas that are in the wrong and in arrears. Refusing for many years to pay what they agreed upon. I applaud Cathy Hocul for getting the money. What she used it for I don't agree with
