Native American: a member of any of the indigenous peoples of North, Central, and South America, especially those indigenous to what is now the continental US. No I am not going to debate what is or isn't a Native American, I dislike this term and far prefer the Canadian designation: Members of the First Nation.
We can claim we are all the same but our government does not make it that way. In Wisconsin spear fishing begins with ice out and the spawning time when the fish are in the shallows.
In Wisconsin the Chippewas operate six hatchery's to restock lakes.
I am only siting facts to the best of my knowledge.

It's not just walleyes In WI. They draw down a lot of northern lakes anticipating spring run off. This traps muskies In pockets and the Indians spear them through the Ice. Where does this happen? I've never heard of this. I see the tribe spearing through the ice frequently, but I know of no bodies of water like you're describing. The Chippewa Flowage.

BT I get all that, still doesn't make it right. Treaties are changed all the time, but our government is to weak and afraid to do the right thing. They are a nation within a nation when it suits them and a citizen when it doesn't. On a side note, what % does one have to be to spear in Wis. 1/6th native american or can you just identify as such. In NY, you can be Indian but if not affiliated w/a tribe, you are just a sorry white man.
