Wow, went to our local grocery store for eggs the other day and a dozen eggs was $3.19. A couple of weeks ago, they were $1.69.

Yesterday, Sam's Club had skinless/boneless chicken breast for $2.99#. I think it was under $2.00# last time I bought any.

Whole chickens at Costco were $1.49# yesterday, Sam's Club was $1.18#, I bought a few at Sam's.

What are prices where you are?

PS, we are getting our eggs from a local producer for $2.50/doz.

Eggs at wal mart and the other grocery stores have a little more than doubled in the last week or so.
A dozen of Jumbo eggs at wal mart was .94 cents now $2.08. Aldi's eggs were .74 cents now $1.52 or something like that.

Yep, stopped in Kwik Trip Friday and regular eggs were 2.49, limit 5 dozen. I am guessing the bird flu kill-offs are starting to show up to the consumer.

The Hutterite Colony had to kill off their chickens and turkey populations here just eating for some joker from the State to show up here now.

My kids and grandkids were here yesterday. We had a early Easter dinner. I put a ham in the smoker.

Daughter brought me 18 cartons of 18 eggs. So far their chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese and peacocks are healthy.

Last year we sold chickens for $4.50 per lb. For whole chickens. Cornish x keep on pasture in tractors moved daily.

I buy my eggs now from the Amish folks. $2,00 a dozen and their extra large eggs.

Much cheaper than when I had a dozen hens and feeding and taking care was a pain in winter especially.

I have not bought eggs since I got chickens. I think eggs here are like $7 a doz.

I eat 3 or 4 eggs every day. They are the perfect food. They have every vitamin and mineral you need, except vitamin C.
The bad cholesterol they claim about eggs is just another FDA lie.

Around 1-2% of the nation's commercial poultry are impacted and or dispatched. Typical hyper crises mode action. Short term no issues at all. The huge ramp up is based mostly on potential longer term projections. The compliance by operators to report this is very high. They are reporting even if they lose their flocks. That way the spread is controlled much better. Virus is short term if hosts are removed. The migratory wild birds are spreading the disease and it came during the major flight times. Several wild species are really strong abilities to fight the disease or do not get sick and thus they can spread this for long distances.

Just need to tap into the correct markets. But yes within 35min of Louisville. But it was the same at our old place 1 hr from a town of 115k.

I can rase them but I'm not going to do it for nothing. Honestly at those prices on the eggs I'm not making much. I may loose money on the eggs of you figure not laying in the winter and time tell they start laying.
