Scuba, I am rather surprised with your engineering background that you are not a believer. Creation screams design. So does evolution. The better version gets the bigger market share if you will. As an engineer I get a problem put in frost of me and have to find a solution. Evolution does exactly the same thing.

I went for a walk with the dogs today and took a basket for shrooms along with me to see if I could find some morels. I did not see any but enjoyed the walk through the brush none the less and the morels would have just been a nice bonus. i stopped here and there looking at the fresh plants coming out from between the rotting leaves on the forest floor. Marveling at the intricacies of nature and how it all works and evolved. Thinking about the chemistry and transport of minerals from the decaying leaves and trunks back into the ground to be taken up by new grows supporting new life. Wondering how long I will be the custodian of my patch here in the hills.
To me the notion of God did all that is like Biden saying that everything is Putins fault. It probably won't make any sense whatsoever to someone who believes in a god.
No it doesn't make sense to me. When I go out in the woods and see everything you mention... the new plants coming back to life, birds building nests, frogs and mushrooms and berries, dew on a spider web, the sun rising over the trees... that's when I'm most sure it was all made by a Creator. To think otherwise, to me, just seems insane.
Just give me one thing, that I can hold on to. To believe in this livin' is just a hard way to go.

We just lost one of the most amazing biblical minds of our times to heart failure three weeks ago, Dr. Charles Baylis. He was an engineer for many years before coming to Christ, and he had an amazing way of teaching where he could take the complex and make it so simple. Here's his website http://thebiblicalstory.org/mainmenu/He is one of the 20th century's major minds for the Bible narrative. We'll truly miss him but we smile right now thinking that he's probably already talked to Moses and is now looking for Paul in heaven to check on some sort of biblical narrative interpretation! Wonderful man was Charles. Wonderful legacy in 10,000's of us around the glove whom he taught. He was a Michigander, same as me. In fact, we kid around here on campus that "is everyone an engineer?" They are many. Whoever says Christians are opposed to science hasn't met many Christians. The scientists in our midst are everywhere. Blessings, Mark

Someone define organized religion. I've never been a member of a church that wasn't an independent body of believers answerable to none but God himself. I've never had a pastor suggest I take everything he said without question, quite the opposite. Every pastor I've ever had wanted me to dig into the Bible and search it out for myself...and we occasionally had differences of opinion but nothing that made me feel like I had to flee the church. We don't major on the minor points. The Bible tells us not to forsake assembling with likeminded believers. That's what I do. I have met that pastor that figured his word was it. Fortunately, I don't think there are many like that.

If a young fresh out of school charismatic preacher gets an assistant job at one of those 400 people every week churches and 600 on holidays, he can eventually have a pretty lucrative career. The rest need about a 50 a week church attendees with 10 solid tithers. 10 tithers and 40 kick some in every week he can do okay. Probably not much profit in telling people they are not smart enough or not worthy enough, to understand what is written. A good preacher is good at leading.

As an engineer I get a problem put in frost of me and have to find a solution. Evolution does exactly the same thing. I believe God to be the Author of life and considering the many trials & tribulations in trying to understand the path to the first living cell it behooves me that many folks do not understand just how intricate the beginnings of life would be without intelligent design. You can not have life without amino acids & yet you can not have amino acids without living organisms creating them. One of the top 50 scientists in the world describes the dilemma with an astounding amount of reality in just how impossible it is for the physics, chemistry & mathematical problems to happen without intelligent design. Worth the watch for any layman or deep Science mind to evaluate and one of the reasons that some atheists within Science now attribute life to spacemen from the past who created life on earth & then died off when in open debates such as Richard Dawkins claimed to Oxford Fellow of Mathematics & Physics, John Lennox. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zU7Lww-sBPg

People who do not believe in God spend a lot of effort trying to replace him with secular gods who would have all races, creeds, ethnicities & free spirits stuck on a plantation ruled by Social Justice Marxists. Being only answerable to God as Free Spirits is a serious threat to those who would be bossman over us. Exactly; and history has shown that wherever this idea has been tried (godless Marxism), the result has been the untimely death of scores if not hundreds of millions of people. The twentieth century was probably the deadliest century in human history; mostly by the hands of godless Marxists.

Gonna be quite a few unhappy people if I ever give up God. You too, throat punch? That’s a one at a time approach and I get tired quicker than I use to so I will be going with other options. lol
